But yeah, I actually am a bigger fan of aberlour, dahlwhinnie, balvenie, and to some degree glen fiddich in scotches. glen morangie makes a great nas called "la santa" which i'm a fan of, but it's not available at costco anymore so *sniffle*.

With regard to other NAS, hibiki harmony is actually pretty good, there's a good smoke to it that's not overpowering but it's also not too weak to be forgettable. I really like the nikka coffey grain. However they have that coffey distiller setup, it offers a really delicious and balanced almost macallan 15 type flavor with a hint of vanilla like the mac12 for casual sipping. I saw the value of that whiskey and bought like 9 bottles in the past month, they're good to bring to parties and without the age statement they don't knnow how much it's worth, lol, esp since it tastes like an 18 year. i've had yamazaki 12 and it's just as good when you're not drunk as when you are, the 18 is better but not sure if it's worth the "scrillz". I just regret not having bought a few bottles of it in 2012 when they were still easily available.

I stay away from the glenkichie, it needs water to open up but I'm just a casual drinker. I'm not all into that frou-frous thing since I am clearly not a sophisticated fellow.

Suntory toki, this one has me on the fence. At $38.99 a bottle at costo, it's an amazing value. It's also very smooth. Most people will simply be amazed at the taste. It's slightly smokey but faint, I'll put it ahead of mac12, but below a glenfiddich 15 in quality. You could definitely stock up on a couple of cases and bring it to a parties without people being any wiser unless you encounter the "real whisky" drinker.

I'm not really friends with "real whisky" drinkers because they end up being the guys that talk shit about all types of drinks but i mean fuck, just drink what you like and leave me the fuck alone. Sometimes the cheap shit tastes really good, I actually like jameson because even though it's cheap and not a scotch it's relatively well balanced. I like me some redbreast too, it's a really delicious irish single pot. I'm starting to branch out more, I hear there are some really tasty bourbons that I haven't tried yet so I'm heading in that direction as soon as costco gives me some good deals.

I really like hibiki but haven't gotten a chance to try this one out yet. Looks like I need to head to costco on my way home tonight to grab a bottle.

If you can find it. I've been to coleman, fremont automall, automation/san jose, hayward hesperian costcos and they've all had different stocks.

I got the Hibiki harmony and hakushu 12 one weekend at hayward, and two weeks later hibiki harmony was available in a couple of cases at the coleman one. Same thing happened with the nikka coffey grain.

If I had some more time I'd hit up the mountain view, sunnyvale, and senter road, and other costcos up the peninsula. There's an interesting Dahlwinnie I picked up at Costco, that I still have to crack open.

BTW, if you see hakushu 12 at costco, lmk i'll buy them out.

Might have to head your way for some Ink and classy whiskey one of these days then ;)

Yeah Ive got a bottle of Caskmates in the liquor cabinet and honestly I wasn't a fan. I still take a sip every so often but meh, anyone who comes by and wants some can have it!
I agree, just drink w/e makes you happy, man. I basically have been trying to stock up on a little bit of liquor for everyone, the plan is -if someone stops by, I've got something they favor, not just "oh I guess I'll try that". I hate cleaning up liquor glasses still half full. Shit, I bought a handle of fireball for a buddy to cruise by and have. Although, I'm no whiskey snob or anything, but I did draw the line and get a little pissed when my buddies buddies mixed some fireball in with the shot of Jameson 12 year I gave him to try. WTF dude.
