Hey let's be nice folks. I just got banned for 4 days on Tacoma World. It may happen to you too. Not sure why I even got banned. I keep it pretty respectful and PG. But yeah, 23 MPG highway is optimal conditions (flat road, low RPM etc)

3rd gen Fuel Economy is not significantly better than the 2nd gen. No. Marginally better, yes.

    Other thoughts: Excellent troll post.

I know you hate your 3rd gen but it is marginally better MPG then the 2nd gen. its a huge advancement in Toyota's eyes and that extra 5mpg does go a long way

I guess it totally depends on the truck, I'm definitely a aggressive driver, hwy I'm at 70+mph, and I get around 23 mpg, tho it's been higher, that's my average, city around 20.5 mpg

    its true.

epa guidelines are not realistic. they're controlled and a baseline if anything.

this 3.5L engine puts out less co2's and thats why it had to go into a truck application. the old 4.0L would not pass emissions but it stays in the 4runner because its not a new model yet.

where you get better mileage is when you hammer it compared to the 4.0L. so, its better to push her than baby her because the net difference is a better sum gain.

you cannot claim that the new 3rd gen Tacoma has the same efficiency of a 2nd gen when you base your opinion off of a website that collects fuel economy on the basis of whoever is posting that said fuel economy. The truck IS LEAGUES better in efficiency when it comes to fuel. The Atkinson Cycle Engine is one of the most efficient engine designs to date. All it has to prove is how reliable it is compared to the 3.4l and the recent 4.0l

My MPG will always be different then your MPG. It is how the operator drives.

meh trade it in and wait for either a better product then or buy a different brand no need to waste a year on Tacoma Forum bashing the product but that is just me.

They say you are never suppose to buy the first released new generation vehicle because there will always be little kinks to be worked out.

If you count a failed rear differential as a little kink, OK.
