So the 2017 is much different being they had another year to fix everything that was "rushed" in 2016 ?. Wait a minute it's the same thing. So much for that theory

That's not exactly what he said. He said something to the effect of wanting to be best in class now and something that would still be best in class 5 years from now. Then he drones on about seals and mirrors and other fine tune crap. He then talks about Toyota execs telling him that it's Lexus level quality (which is part of the interview that most people forget/miss)

Check again. 18 seconds in he says that Colorado came out and they had to go back and make changes.

Yeah. Watched the whole thing. My statement stands. Context matters.

Yes, but in all fairness it's like a mom or dad describing to you that they have the smartest, most well behaved kid ever. I would take what the execs said with a grain of salt.

I think you and Friggin are both correct. He says Toyota made quick adjustments after the GM twins came out (and they could assess them) to NVH. You are saying they wanted not only to meet but beat the GM twins (and whatever they improve on over the next 5 years) in NVH. Seatbelt Mike said both in the video.

You must have different bosses than the rest of us. I seriously doubt Toyota leadership is going tell an internal team theyre awesome, if they aren't.

True but it depends on the where it was said - in a room full of external people (so an effort to save face which is important in eastern culture) or one on one with Seatbelt Mike. If it was the latter then they would have chewed him out if it was crap.

And who knows what other changes that were rushed before rollout before adequate testing.

AAAAH......"seatbelt Mike" again, he reminds us old-timers of "Joe Isuzu".

Close......Mid 1980s ....at a guess. I would get one in a heartbeat at that price, even if it is an Isuzu. Beats $40k plus for a TRD pro.

I agree, Toyota is milking the Tacoma reputation and focusing on their other vehicles. I've said the same many times.

We've had a 1988 pickup, 00 Tundra TRDOR, 04 Tacoma TRDOR, 08 Tacoma TRDOR and now the 16 TRDSport. NEVER had problems with ANY of them. The 1988 and the 04 Tacoma were construction trucks that were very well taken care of but we worked them hard and put lots of miles on them. Great trucks, no complaints!
My husband needed a full size truck (F250) otherwise he would still have the 04, he loved that truck.....

Adjust for inflation, besides, that price was for a stripper 2WD against a loaded Pro.

You got a vinyl bench seat, four speeds and manual windows, that's it.

So with election being as brutal as it is. Hillary is publicly dumping at least 6 million dollars into a "Correct the Record" campaign. Basically they flood social media with positive remarks about HRC. What I'm getting at is I wouldn't put it past private companies to do the same. Dump money into forums to undermine a competitors product and make so much controversy that prospective buyers dump the idea of getting a tacoma all together.
