I had one of those. You'll put maybe 500lbs in them, they were FWD, single cab, 53hp and had no safety and technology. They weighed 2400lb soaking wet. And the tailpipe emissions were miles more than almost any new truck of any size made today.

your under warranty still. A rear diff can fail on any vehicle anything on any vehicle can fail. Just be lucky you did not have to pay out of pocket

And many honda civics had engines where they forgot the c clips on the piston connecting rod, and other manufacturers had issues.

My second rear differential is also howling now. Did you see the poll on this? Almost half of the members reporting on that poll are experiencing the same issues with their rear differentials. Did you also know there is a wide spread issue with the Hood vibration/flex because of failed adhesive bonds and Toyota still has no official fix for this. Many people are having this issue. Also there are many reporting a buzzy vibration possibly coming from the driveline and remarkably appears to be a carry over design flaw from the 2nd generation -- no fix for that either. So yeah there are some issues with these trucks that are minor and others that are not so minor. No I will not trade mine in. Toyota will be held accountable to fix it and until they do, I will continue to speak my voice on it.

If you need help finding the ignore button, I can help you.

I know you think of me as a "young timer" but now days vehicles are big and huge. They have 80 computers and are designed to be safe, reliable, slow, fast, big, small, good view, camera here camera there,20 airbags even one for your ass. People put so much design in them that eventually these vehicles will have kinks here and there and will need to be worked on more. My vehicle is a lot different then one in the 60's where it was just metal and a big open engine with transmission and if you were lucky you got ac. get over the fact that vehicles now days will have more bumps on the road and more issues. if you do not want to worry about reliability and fixing the small things then lease the rest of your life because its only going to get worse. Atleast safety is better?

Dude the 1st gen had issues at launch SO DID the 2nd gen. If you buy any vehicles at launch there are kinks that have to be worked out and the only reason they are going to find the issue is it being on the road.

How would leasing my Tacoma make these issues go away? Whether it was purchased or leased the truck still has these flaws. Leasing it does not make a difference in this situation because Toyota would still give the same song and dance: "It's normal for the vehicle" or "yes it is a problem no we have don't have a fix" etc. You're still tied to making payments either way.

leasing gives you the ability to give the keys back and walk away. Toyota does not have a fix for it yet because they are making sure the fix they do have will work and will fix the issue. You cannot sit here and tell me that a huge automotive company can release fixes in mere days IT TAKES TIME.

thats fine I wont talk about it more here. but here is advice. Do not go out and purchase a brand new truck from the ground up with all of the safety features to protect your family and all of the technology that you expect now days in a vehicle and then turn around and expect it to be 100 PERCENT BULLET PROOF EVERY GREAT VEHICLE in history startedddddddd with years and years of improvements. If you want the best truck that Toyota can offer BUY A 2015!

If you want to be part of the next best generation then expect flaws that will eventually get acknowledged and fixed

I understand what you are saying. There are some nuances I am willing to tolerate but I ordered the mexican combo platter with the whole enchilada, and my plate is missing the beans and rice.

Your beans and rice will come with time! The mexican in the back is a big guy and takes awhile to get everything out.

Umm, no the laws are way to strict now for trucks.
