Going on the rover forum won't do any good. I'm just biting my tongue on this one. If we see him in person and he has the balls to come up to us then we'll talk it out.

I joined the rover forum just so I could see his picture. However, apparently having an account isn't enough to see it. I still cannot.

Do they want you to pay for the privilege of being a member like NWOL? Not sure why I would pay to converse with people I probably would hate in the real world.

I just can't get past the list of inappropriate content. "Any content that isn’t appropriate for a grade school classroom," maybe I can understand that but, "Vehicles with a lot of body damage" Really?!?! on an forum for off-road vehicles? Sounds like they must have some real excitement going on...

It's pretty hardcore over landing through wine country roads. I think there might even be a few potholes and puddles.

Ehhh NWOL from what ive seen isnt really a "off-road" group in the sense we think of it. They are more geared to just getting out on forest service type roads to slightly tougher and camping/multiday stuff. Still some awesome trip reports there of some places Ive either been or would like to go at some point. No need to bash on them for that aspect just cause they go for a different type of off-road usage then us :)

Now the other rules....yeah bit excessive and ive definitely seen a double standard by the admins

I like how he said he reached maximum tranquility when he came in his dogs ass as soon as he saw all the "heavily kitted" Toyotas

Oh yeah, I mean I get not everybody wants to beat up on a vehicle they still owe 20k on like some of us and there are very worthwhile trips to be had without doing it. But to define a picture of a vehicle with body damage as inappropriate just makes it sound like it's a show vehicles only group.

Meh, I beat on my truck but not to the extent that I aquire major body damage. Then I see the resale of trucks 3-4yrs older than mine and it keeps me happy. I could easily make $3-4k on the resale.

$60 a year. Dumb. Overland Bound gives a cool little medallion for your $25 lifetime membership. Plus all there content is readily available to everyone. I don't know why these sites think it nescesarilly to charge a fee. Isn't the goal to bring like minded enthusiasts together? Don't be a lazy host. Do the work, set up your affiliate links to Amazon. If you have a good following people will pay you to advertise their products. It's just elitist bs from a bunch of knuckle heads in peice of shit discos that barely make it out the parking garage most of the time.

The truth be known, I would kill for a Defender 110. I would strip the shitty motor of course. The price of entry for something so poorly made just kills it for me. I will settle for a fj or scout in my old age.

At the overland rally, the Expedition overlan 4R got stuck. A bunch of 90's couldn't articulate and got stuck. My Taco, and several others made it look like a paved road.
Jus sayin. Also, yes, I have pics, so it did happen.

I wasn't aware this was the "Bash on other clubs" thread. ONE group from a fairly large organization bitched about a few people. I think we can be the better group here and forget about it. No sense in trying to join their forums just to poke Em with sticks. Just my .02

Something like that. There is a lot of awesomeness mixed in with all the silly shit. It's the way of British engineering. It's love hate for me.
