I've owned my 2003 Tacoma for about three years now. I bought it after an extensive search. I wanted the 2.7L with manual transmission, extended cab and reasonable mileage. I got it.
Three years later, I now have a 4 month-old and a bunch a car seats that will never fit in this truck. The truck has only 106,000 miles. The frame is original and has surface rust, but was not recalled.

My dilemma is this: Do I hold onto this truck and buy a cheap used car for baby hauling, or do I sell this one for a $30,000 double cab?

Seems to me my truck will go another 100,000 miles, but should I sell it while it has some decent value and get a newer taco?

Welcome to TW :hattip::wave: I would keep the truck if it's not giving you any trouble and buy a small used car that fits your needs.

I wouldn't buy a cheap used car for baby hauling. The way people drive today, I would suggest something newer with all of the modern safety equipment. Of course, a newer Tacoma double cab would fit the bill!

Welcome to the TW club!:thumbsup:A cheap used baby hauling vehicle could be a hassle of many aspects!:notsure:It's what your budget can handle overall!

If you need two vehicles, and can afford to insure/operate two vehicles, buy the 2nd vehicle.

You can find quite nice, modern/safe/spacious mid sized sedans for half the price of a new Tacoma, and ones that will get around 2x the MPG. Most of them would likely have under 30k on them.

Keep in mind that in the current era of low gas prices, there are thousands of short sighted people 'moving up' to larger rides, because the price of filling the tank is not in their face everyday. The budget friendly fuel sipper market is a bit soft right now, so it's a good time to look for those.

In addition to the normal suspects of Honda and Toyota, don't overlook Hyundai as a prospect. With transferable 100k warranties, they can be a great value.
