wow.. I understand "They" (government?) have been gracious enough to allow us to continue to deface this land with vehicle tracks, spinning tire marks, landform distruction, added erosion, trash, improper toilets, improper fires, etc... but to call tagging a rock "complete ignorance and disregard to the environment" is far fetched...

 

So did this thread get started so that we get someone that lives close by goes and cleans it up?

Reality is a few can ruin it for all. I would not write any message on a rock. Just take a selfie and move on.

@TBuzz, I'm pretty sure if you wanted a few weeks' worth of out-of-state beer (read: real alcohol content), you'd head up there and photo-document your cleaning efforts.

Off-roading is inherently destructive to the environment. That is why we have designated trails; to control and contain the amount of damage yet still allow people to enjoy the outdoors. This applies to all trails - hiking, biking, 4x4, etc.

To condone or dismiss graffiti because "fuckit, tire marks and stuff" is a really sad example of lack of respect for nature and our environment. No true outdoor enthusiast wants to get to the middle of nowhere just to find graffiti; it destroys the beauty and the serenity that make the wild outdoors so magnificent.

Excuses like, "we only did it because somebody else already did" really shows a lack of intelligence, integrity and personal courage. If you want to be a lemming and follow the crowd of stupid, stay in the city.

Edit: tl;dr - stay on the trails, pick up your trash, and don't deface our natural landscape.
