Still a bit early as many are in process or have only recently had the update performed. So please post approximate mileage you have since getting the TSB. If you have just had it performed I would suggest you wait 500 miles or so before posting your feedback.

Observations so far: MOST drivers have noted a significant improvement right after getting the TSB update. However some have reported that it has changed for better/worse over time. Also some have noted fuel economy impacts for better/worse.

We are most interested in the long term impacts of the TSB, not simply the initial impacts as we have plenty of feedback on that already.

looks good, it'll help people decide if they want to update or not. Nothing worse than getting an update and not working n the long term.

    So,
Did your R to D delay that was fixed, return?
Did your harsh 2-3 shift that was gone return?
Did your hanging 4th gear in cruise control that was fixed return?
These are the only valid questions. The TSB was not meant to address anything else.

TSB applied; I am getting a significant flare between 2nd and 3rd gear when cold in the morning. Transmission fluid has been checked the "long way" by dealer and was told it is full/normal.

Never had much of a delay. Cruise control seems to be better need to take on another highway trip to test again

Interesting, it did address my gear hunting, even though it is not on the list. Although I noticed it shifting perfect when cold, when I drive for a while it would not shift as good. But it's better than it was.

Have not had any issues with the R to D delay when cold anymore and mileage still seems to be improving. No ill effect from the flash but still in the learning stage after 600 miles.

Truck DOES seem to be more sluggish on very hot days regardless of the flash. It's always felt more responsive when outside temps are not above 95 degrees like last week.

Not sure if you desert dwellers notice the difference between night and day driving. Temps below 90 and the truck feels like a rocket.

Is this tranny TSB issue a V-6 thing or does it also apply to my 2.7

First, this is faulty thinking and troubleshooting -
Welcome to software. Where 1 "fix" can introduce a myriad of additional problems and affect other systems.

Now to my comment on the post topic.
Just over 1K miles since the update. The transmission is much better, especially the shift between 1st and 2nd. My R->D delay is completely gone. The cruise seems better from my limited usage, but I don't use it often anyway.

Additional comments - I occasionally get a very hard downshift, especially when smoothly braking to a stop. Almost feels like it can't get out of gear. Then THUD and it shifts down. Sorta reminds me of when you try to downshift in a manual without pushing the clutch in all the way. That's the only difference I've noticed.

As a side note, a big aggravation for me is when I'm taking a corner. I hold the gas pedal steady through the turn, then it upshifts right before the corner ends and when I come out of the turn, I'm at 800 RPMs and have near 0 torque to get moving. Then I have to hammer it to downshift and it gets all temperamental and downshifts hard and damn near barks the tires.

I didn't want to have to start driving everywhere in ECT mode, but I guess I'm going to have to. I just wish it held 2nd and 3rd a little longer before shifting.

I'm probably on my 4th fill up since the TSB and all I have to say is truly positive. Truck is shifting a hell of a lot better, driving Harder and gas mileage is still excellent(as long as I am trying for it) around 25mpg on 15+mile trips 20mpg on 10miles and less trips. One thing I can say is I noticed that it is a lot easier to drive harder in it postTSB now than preTSB as in potential for worse gas mileage. Pros and cons I guess...

I am going to wait a little longer before casting my vote. At 800 miles, Im seeing some positive results where I wasnt initially impressed with the TSB. Right now Im of the opinion that +500 miles has made the shifting better than it was before, but there are still some minor things that need working out. (Edit: mpg's have gone up 1-2 mpg) Keep in mind that I was not unhappy prior to the TSB. I also did not have P to R to D issues either. I will vote after some more seat time.

I think it's better, but not enough miles to report. We'll see.

Just took on highway for a bit. Definitely holds 6th gear better in CC and not in CC

Anyone have 3-4 gear shift flair after the TSB, when the engine is cold? I get it in normal and ECT mode.

    Hello All,

I am just reaching out to the group to see if anyone else is having issues with 3rd-4th gear flair when the engine/transmission is cold. It never fails... mine does this every morning in either normal mode or ECT mode. I had the TSB performed before I took delivery of the truck, and I saw the calibration number in the Toyota Techstream to verify the TSB was applied. My truck was .5 quarts low at delivery (I have the towing package), and the 2nd dealer I took the truck to corrected the tranny fluid level. When checking for the 3-4 gear shift flair, the dealer could not replicate the issue, but he had his data logger connected, and I am sure that throws a wrench into the CAN bus traffic. Why do I see the issue every morning, but the dealer can't replicate the issue. The only variable, is nothing is connected to the OBDII port when I am driving the truck. I know from experience that data logging affects the ECM operation. I am an electrical engineer, and I have performed engine management programming/design. I know there is a lot of new gadgetry in this truck, but this transmission situation is unacceptable and shouldn't have ever been released... not for a $36,000 truck.

Mine is slipping and flaring between 2nd and 3rd. First thing in AM when leaving my neighborhood. Only does it once but does it quite badly. You sure yours is between 3rd 4th?
