You must have a daily driver other than the truck for those tires.

 

I do actually. I have a little 5 lug Tacoma that I dd. I was looking at bias ply tires too but I decided not to and figured it would be best to go with a radial.

 

Its pretty common out there I noticed when I was on the big island. My best friend never drove his Tacoma. Just a Subaru grocery getter until he sold his Tacoma and found 2 FJ80s

 

I want a dd so the miles will stay down on my Tacoma

 

Those FJ80's are like my dream truck. There's a couple nice ones that live close to me but they would never get rid of them.

 

Crazy thing is on Kona he found 2 96s for cheap! He bought both and ended up using one to make a triple locked FJ80 and added an OME lift and some STT Pros when he shipped it back to the mainland. Sold the parts one after some repairs for profit.

They both had no rust and had been there since the 90s!

 

Damn! Lucky. As time goes on, there's going to be less and less of these un-molested classics in good condition. I used to be a Suzuki Samurai fanatic about 10 years ago, and it was hard to find any of them without a lot of rust back then.

 

They make good crawlers for sure. Still pretty popular here in AZ.

 

I wish I had better documented my Samurai build back then, but there was no social media like there is today, and the internet was just starting to take off. All I have are pictures in a shoe box of it. I wasn't a part of any forums, (I don't even know if there was one) so basically I just looked at various websites to see what parts/kits were available.

I just received notification that my front diff w/ locker is shipping today.

East Coast Gear Supply is such an awesome company to work with. The whole process is seamless, as they mail you return labels to send them back your core diffs. Turn around time is fast, I only ordered the diff and locker a couple days ago and Chase, at ECGS, always answered any questions I had, no matter how small.
If anyone is looking to regear and add a locker to their truck, it is a no-brainer to get it built by ECGS.

 

Will be ordering gears and front locker from them soon myself
