    Greetings all,

    I'm new to the forums, but I've been a long time Toyota fan.
    I've had an '85, '88 and '93 4x4 as well as a '95 and '00 4Runner. I had a slight detour with Subaru's since '01 (moved to Japan), but I'm headed back.

    Anyway, I'm looking to get a Xtra Cab, TRD, 4x4, somewhere around '99-'03.
    I know there were minor changes between '00 and '01, but haven't found exactly what changed.

    Is there any preference to what year I should be looking for?
    Are there specific "issues" I should be concerned with (depending on year)?

    I guess I'm looking for any and all advice before I pick something up?

    Thanks in advance

    Yeah dude, don't get some rust job. Why you switching from Subaru's? Those turbo boxer engines are pretty bad azz.

    Rust = bad..noted LOL
    I actually was just reading about rust issues. The underside is always a big concern for me, so any rust should be spotted pretty easy. I'm also going to take whatever to a shop for complete inspection.

    I loved the Suby's, but I just grew tired of the car scene. I actually had a '97 WRX when I lived in Japan and a '00 RS and currently a '02 WRX (modded out). My needs have changed and I also just miss the Toyota trucks I used to have. Eventually I'll pick up a new STi, but I'll be keeping the Taco too.

    the frame rust issue isnt necessarily noticeable to an eyeball...theyre rusting from the inside out...if you find a decent 95-2000 one...take it to a dealer to have the check the frame for the rust buyback

    I finally made it back home and picked up a White '01 Xtra Cab, V6, TRD.
    They're smaller than I remember, but so far I love it!!! Like a home coming.

    Already did the deck-lid mod...more to come.

    I look forward to being a constant lurker and occasionally piping up on this site. :)

    I'll post some pics soon
