Road force? wtf?

So my 08 Pre-runner has since I bought it used with 16,000 on it had a shaky bouncy ride and my steering wheel shakes like crazy starting at 60 MPH. It did it with my stock rims and tires and now with my aftermarket wheels and tires. I took it to the service delt here in town and the guy rode with me. We got back and he says that it feels like a combo of road force and tire balance. He tried to explain it to me but it made no sense lol. Are they wrong in ur guys opinions? Cause it seems to me 2 sets of tires and wheels wouldnt do this back to back.

Also my buddy was behind me on the way to work and he says it looks like one of the tires i hopping up and down?

Ideas?

 

hmm, well it has to be in your tires somewhere, driveline vibes don't go through the steering wheel. the new wheels are balanced properly? if it looks like it's bouncing it would make sense that it's a balancing issue

 

Hopefully one of the gurus will chime in here but it sounds like front shocks, springs to me.

 

May be the wheels are bent? So both sets of tires act in exactly the same way? Maybe an axle shaft is bent causing the wheels to appear to be hoppin up and down? Just suggestions

Make sure to get those tires 'Road Force' balanced too. Just to eliminate that it could be the tires. That will show them if the tires are 'egg' shaped too.

 

lot of good ideas guys. But yeah ima have them do the road force balancing first to know for sure?...

It just doesn't make sense because the other set did it too??

 

I worked at a tire shop and we had a sweet Hunter road force balancer that measured rim runout (to make sure it isnt bent) and id say about 1/3rd of the time it was a manufacturing problem with the tire. We didnt actually road force every tire. Just if someone had a really bad problem. Sounds like it could help you find out if it is the tires or wheels!

 

im still just dead set on it cant be tires/wheels?? How teh hell would 2 diff sets do the same thing?

It seems like the dealer would be wasting there time and money doing the balance cause if it doesnt work I dont pay lol?
