Before the TSB (ECM Software Update) it was an 8.5, right after they applied the TSB :canada:yesterday it is a solid 10!!! It drives like a different truck! What a big difference. It now shifts smoother just like my Highlander.:burnrubber:

This 3rd Gen is my first new truck. I've always had problems with Fords, drove unpractical lifted old Jeeps(still love them dearly), expensive problems with diesels, etc.

I now have my poverty model SR 4X4 2.7 4banger and love it!!! 9/10 (wish it was a manual)

    9. If it had power adjustable seats and more torque off the line it would be a 10.

9/10 if they fixed the oil leak on the carrier bearing and put a Hellcat in it from the factory or made it hover.

    .
9.0 out of 10. .... (1) Side mirrors need convex section to see better (I can't find good glass split convex mirrors anywhere)
    (2) Engine could have more power (3) get rid of drive-line clunk.

With all that said. Tacoma is still the best out there.

I'm sure there a lot of cool things you could do with those panels. Including painting yourself or hydrodipping.

    9.8/10

After transmission and howling tsb and atf fluid topped off my truck runs like a charm. Knock on wood.

Only thing that has been bothering me is one side of my rear bumper has a larger body gap than the other side.

5 when compared to my ideal truck. But still I think it is the best truck in its class currently in production.

My main complaint is too much technology. Most of the reliability and performance issues seem related to technology. I dread the cost of service after it goes off warranty. I have always done my own repairs, and know that when the computers and sensors start failing I will be at the mercy of the local Toyota service department unless an independent shop invests in the equipment to troubleshoot.

And Toyota has done so much to reduce the weight of the truck that I am skeptical about long term durability. So much metal has been replaced with plastic.

I consider my best truck to have been a '75 Datsun, bought new and driven 23 years. Very simple, basic, nothing to go wrong and therefore reliable, and inexpensive. My best vehicle was a '66 GTO - the one with 3-2 barrels on a 389 with 4 speed. Again simple, reliable (and fast as hell). Of course neither of those could meet today's emission standards, and I recognize that is important.

 My 68--numbers matching 400 in it, only thing I should do is pull the OEM quadrapuke off but don't want to hurt originality :D
