    I lent my brother-in-law my taco over my christmas break and needless to say i should have went over my 4x4 with him... 70mph on dry roads in 4wd took care of the rest... so i'm in the market for a new front differential, i can't afford to take it to the dealership and the truck is stuck in central kansas for now. if i was to get a salvaged front diff what years could i pull it from and could i look at 4runners? I have a 96 taco 4x4 4cyl excab... any ideas??? thanks.

    Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
    once in a while, someone on TTORA sells their front end... see if you can find a front diff that way...

    as for the brother in law, you did say you should have went over the 4x4 with him, so might be hard to completely blame him and make him pay for everything... depends how much you value the family relationship...

    but to the issue at hand and getting the truck back, definitely look into a used front diff form someone at TTORA...

    What are his gear ratios? I would think that he's got the 4.10's because he's a 4 banger.

    I would double check but I think they both use a 7.5. I was saying it looks great for the price. New (maybe reman) from Toyota for $350 - If I needed one, I would pull the trigger.

    check here (the price of that ebay one for a toyota oe or reman is a very good price). He may need to swap out the vacuum mechanism but maybe not...
