I get the why didn't i buy American crap..
I say "I did! My truck was built in Cali, By UAW workers.. My last two fords were built in Canada... " then there's the "Well the money goes over seas" I say "WEll take a look at who are the major investors/ shareholders of the big three, mostly foreign.. So are they really an American company?" Then i add the story how Toyota made people go work in the community with a full paycheck, instead of laying them off as the big three do not hesitate to do. Why does a Japanese company treat american workers better than the so called American companies?
I point this out in a calm manor.

I am a technician for bmw, and when i bought my truck i had a guy at work ask me "why did you buy a toyota? how many old japenese trucks do you ever see anymore? those things are pieces of s**t and never last." that pissed me off pretty good, i asked him if he was kidding because old japenese trucks are freakin everywhere around here but he was dead serious. this guy works in the parts dept, and its funny that he thinks he knows a good vehicle from a bad one. but all the other techs love it and praise toyota constantly.

I get the you got small man syndrome because you have a truck remark all the time. I have never hand anyone say anything bad about the truck. I actually get a lot of compliment. A lot more then what I ever got with my riced out 2000 Celica.

I had a co-worker who had driven Dodge's his whole life and he kept telling me to get a Dodge before I had bought my Tacoma. When I showed up at work after I bought it, he was really impressed. Now two and half years later, he's about to buy one.

Therein lies the problem. They have been drinking the American made Kool-aid for far too long. My grandpa still refuses to believe that my tacoma 3 years older and with 70k more miles is worth more than his 4x4 Chevy silverado.

Funny, my great grandpa who is a WWII vet likes my truck, and said that "your Jap truck is better than the shit made today in america". And being 92 this year, I think he knows a bit about a bit. I find it really funny when these same people talk shit about toyota, but when they see a nice Mercedes or BMW they praise it. I mean really? A german made vihicle is ok, but not Japanese? lol.

BMW, like Toyota, has a plant in the US.
Besides, I'm willing to bet that every car on the road has something in it that was manufactured in China.

being in trade union I get some grief about it not much,
a job or two back though I ran into a foreman who saw my truck. The guy kept giving me grief about it. Doesn't bother me though. It's just a truck I bought, nothing more. I have fords and chevy's as well and done mods on them as well. Having a favorite auto company is like having a favorite oil company. Couple guys in local dig the truck though and offered some cash for a "toy truck",

    I do enjoy my truck

however being the size I am space is a commodity, and the taco isn't the easiest to be in for me or other people over 6'6"

I will how ever rum this things until it can't give me anymore
(probably another 100,000 miles or four years of driving it
