What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Obviously not mine, but I went to see a local guy try unsuccessfully to kill his 5-lugger. All 4 sides took hard hits, and the rusted frame held together. Even managed to mash/bend the radiator enough to stop the fan, but it somehow didn't lose any coolant and kept going.

Is that a Honda civic? The black with flame job lol? What's it doing in a what I'm assuming is a derby race.

 

Rain water is getting past the windshield seal. It then runs down the inside side of the firewall, behind the dash.

 

It was a van, but between the paint jobs and damage I couldn't tell what 2/3rds of the vehicles were.

It's the Jefferson Speedway "Tournament of Destruction" in southern WI.

 

Yea I bet looks super fun. My brother did those dirt track races in a stripped down dodge neon. Thing was quick lol.

mine did this a couple years ago when it rained but only on the driver side. How I found it was with a garden hose and a flashlight. Turns out the water ran under the hood above the fire wall and then it would drip through one of the large rubber grommets that passes the wires to the inside of the cab. I turned the hose on the truck in the driveway for a few minutes at full stream, then grabbed a flashlight and looked up under the dash and could see the water dripping off the wires. I sealed it from the outside with silicone.

Ideally you would have an auto glass company pull and reseal your windshield and then install a new outer rubber trim piece too.

 

My mats are always soaked after rain. Don't think mines fixable though lol

 

Ouch. It is the original windshield as far as I know, so it could be the seal...

 

I saw that on the craigs a while back. Had a lot of goodies on it. Nice pickup

 

Getting the frame work laid out for my storage/sleeping area

 

Just pull back the rubber seal on top of the windshield and silicone under it. I pull mine back and spray rust check every year. Easily pulls back far enough to silicone.

 

Out moth the old 4.10 open diff and in with the new 5.29 and ARB

 

Do you plan on just putting a 3/4 plywood sheet over

 

For right now yes , I would love to put a cargo glide in but that's gotta wait

Anybody have any tips for removing the ADD tube from my old IFS clamshell? I don't want to screw up my core of the ADD that needs to go on my new diff.

What is that?

 

It doesn't leak from the top of the windshield. I'd definitely be able to notice that
