Those larger REI poles are nearly identical in specifications though. They would work fine.

If you like Zion, but hate the crowds, be sure to check out Kolob Canyon -it's part of Zion, on its west side.
Also, if you're in the St. George UT area, Snow Canyon State Park is a hidden gem. Hike up and extinct volcano cone, scramble down lava tubes into complete darkness, petrified sand dunes and a great slot canyon.

    Truth!

I grew up in St. George, and while the main canyon is amazing, it's absolutely chaotic during the peak season. And honestly, the Kolob section is my favorite part of Zion. If you have the time, hike the middle fork of Taylor Creek, or Lee Pass to LaVerkin Creek. You won't be disappointed.

Snow Canyon is also very cool, like @Cuffs mentioned. If you're camping around there, check out Red Cliffs or Oak Grove. And Sand Hollow State Park has some of the best off-roading outside of Moab.

Regardless, you'll have a blast. I'm biased, obviously, but Utah is the best in terms of the different options it has to offer.

Thanks for the advice. It's my first visit so of course I'm wanting to do the Narrows and Angel's Landing. I'll have two full days and maybe another half depending on when I leave. I was also thinking about doing hidden canyon. Thoughts?

The good thing I guess is that my two full days will be Monday and Tuesday so it may be less crowded than normal at least.

Haha trust me I've watched a LOT of videos. Heights don't typically bother me too much though.

We just came back from a huge road trip, and it included Moab area and all the parks. Although we didn't camp, hit me up if you need any info on anything else!

The higher didn't bother me. The 18" path, no hand rail, 3000 foot plummet. That bothered me!

The Narrows is one of my absolute favorites. The perfect summer hike. But if you have two full days, I would suggest doing Hidden Canyon or the Narrows one day and Angel's the other. It would be pretty sporty to try to do two of those hikes in one day.

Angel's is one of the few hikes in Zion that I haven't done. My massive fear of heights has a lot to do with that! I still want to do it someday, though.

That was the plan, which will make it difficult to get to Kolob. But, we'll see. I'll have a good time regardless.

There's a Mt. Elbert in Tennessee? Or are you talking Colorado?

Nice! Looking to do that a few weeks from now. If you go past the Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive trailheads, you can find quite a bit of disbursed camping if you want to make it an overnight trip.

Interesting.. I was trying to find a free place to camp tonight so I wouldn't have to leave super early in the morning. Thanks!

Question, what are you using to attach it to your roof and top? I can't tell in the pic. Thanks

Apparently the reason it's a secret campsite is because everybody else thinks it's a bathroom. Does your secret campsite look like this?
