Sounds like that fire was started by a Razor, apparently Polaris sent out a notice that there is a recall on a fire related issue. Hope they sent a letter to that guy otherwise they're going to have quite the immense bill to pay...

Ah ok, I was like I could've sworn there was 4 or something like that lol. The gnarly one Greg did was that one with the near vertical climb at the top then yeah?

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.
Yup! The center one with the fucked up final like 20' or so where the ruts get deep.

And hopefully he received it in a reasonable time before the fire... not yesterday.

Although that's what insurance is for! Oh well. We really shouldn't fear fire like we do. It's integral to the environment.

It depends, really. The fire burning it all off is only a small part of it, places like Maple Springs Rd are closed because it ended up raining hard after the fire cooked off all the veg' and they suffered gnar gnar mudslides which made it super unstable. The road still hasn't really recovered right. Although I imagine when it finally opens its gate back up we'll have a nice "local" road that is hard as hell.

We did the right side of the fork today, the first time I did Lookout a couple months ago I did the left side. That one was tire eater, pretty sure most of the chunks I have missing from my rears are from that lol.

Fantastic way of putting it. You're right. Trail conditions change daily. More for some than others, but no bs, they do change. Also, some trails have more difficult obstacles than others but the others can wreak havoc all the same due to length of the trail. Hours of proper tire placement and over moderate trails can break a driver down mentally and physically. In a sense the trail not so difficult just waiting for the driver to make just one mistake due to fatigue. I got hung up a couple times on Pilot Rock but I have no lockers and no ATRAC. On one hand, damn it. On the other, no lockers and no ATRAC will only help improve my offroad stamina and aid in my developing my off road skill all the better. Same goes for those with manual transmissions. Lockers will come. When? I don't know. Kings and armor were pretty pricey. Gonna be recovering for a while.

My bad on the long post. I usually don't do that, but I just got home from work, enjoying a cocktail, and watching the Dodgers game while TW'ing.

Complexity and length definitely weigh into how dangerous something can get. One wrong move and you're 1/4" away from crushing your bumper... or worse.

No bs. I have nightmare about crushing my drive shaft. I need to install my BAMF LCA skids. Those are so damn prone to damage.

haha. Word. That whole area is a mother fucker exposed to so much. All we can do is slap on a skid and hope nothing fails. I haven't heard of beefier ball joints. Maybe someone knows something further on this topic?

Also, for the second gens our spindles are like sheet metal. So weak and can fold like paper. I have Total Chaos gussets that I still need to have welded on. So many mod parts and I can barely find time to do anything these days. I hate wasting days off to mod when I could be wheeling or camping. I don't find mudding fun (so much damage comes from mudding that I want nothing to do with. Not intentionally at least) so I like to enjoy this time of year to wheel before I hibernate during mudding season. Okay, not hibernate. I'll be hitting Joshua Tree a plenty and the occasional Death Valley.

The pictures of 1st gen ball failure are like a cluster beyond cluster. It drops the arms clean off the tire!

I'm pissed I didn't make the left line on lookout. Good luck to the next guy cause I dug a huge hole with my back tires. I could have went to the left a bit and made it but I didn't want to bush whack my new headlights...

I took my LCA skids off for alignment just before we hit pilot rock. And found out later I could have used em on the 2nd half of the trail. Definetly a good mod to have.
