Not me, I just know the A/TM refers to axle first. It was another member with the decoder spreadsheet.

As soon as it is available I will get a picture and post it. Someone else might be able to beat me to it as I won't have it until at least the end of the month.

I realize it is probably to early to tell, but are there any throw out bearing issues poping up on 3rd gen 6 speeds? Is the 3rd gen manual transmission an updated Aisin unit from the 2nd gen or a completely new design? Any other issues showing up yet?

Somewhere in this thread someone checked out the TOB and said it now has a steel shaft bolted rather than the aluminum casted shaft. This should fix the f'n cricket issue from the 2nd gen. At least it better f'n fix it. Sorry, I really didn't like those crickets.

I had the URD sleeve kit fix done on my 2nd gen but 15k later it is back. That is why I'm asking.

If it was only the chirping sound, yes lame and embarrassing, but I could still live with that. What I fear is the bearing disintegrating in there when left alone. Hoped they sorted this out for 3rd gen, but then again it is Toyota, same issues 20 years on...

Toyota is really just doing everything in their power to talk me out of a third gen. (In reality, they're probably trying to get rid of manual Tacomas...)

I might be wrong but I didn't think that too many people actually had the TOB fail.
As far as I know there hasn't been any issues with the 3rd gen but like you said 20 yrs later...

3.9 wtf!!! I really want 4.88 already but that's years down the road. Let's just hope it's a misprint.

All you serious offroaders are gonna regear anyways, so what does 3.90 matter, it's about the same as the 3.73 and old 6-speed from 2015. The 4.30 will get replaced with 4.88 or lower by offroaders.

On the other hand, the 3.90 will get better MPG for the 90% that don't offroad.

For the record the shit show of a thread about axle ratios seems to have been all for not. The consensus is that all the axle ratios for 2017 will be the same. Take that with a grain of salt but it appears that the 2017 Mt will still have 4.30 gears. However, do your own homework before buying and do not trust my word on the subject. If they end up being 3.90 do not blame me please.

Well for fuck sake, I thought those worthless Toyota engineers finely got there shit together and gave us a decent highway gear to bring the revs down and destroy the automatic in mpg like an equally geared stick can.

I actually love that my MT is lower in the highest gear then the AT. In the hilly country of CO I can actually accelerate up some hills without downshifting all the time like an AT does.

The slight mpg loss makes it worth it for me.

C'mon man, shifting is why you bought it, dropping a gear on the mountain is nothing. I'm pushing a 2.7L in CO and I'd still take a higher gear.

I've shifted more with the close-ratio gearbox in the taco over 2.5 years then I have with all my other manual cars before it combined.

Hey guys, this might be really old hat but on the toyota.com website if you try to build a 2017 Off-road manual you CANNOT add the JBL Audio option, is this correct?

Unless they changed the website, you aren't actually building anything. You are "filtering" options of trucks that are in the pipeline to dealers or on the lots near your area.

You can test this by changing the zip code, you'll see different options pop up and disappear.

You need to refer to the sales brochure to see what is available with each configuration/trim package. Then you need to find a dealer that will work with you and change options on one that is in their pipeline that hasn't been built yet to get the truck exactly how you want it. Otherwise you just have to hope to get lucky that your exact one is sitting somewhere or on a delivery truck not spoken for yet.

I actually worked with a dealer, and they told me is wasn't an available option for the MT. I was fine with that cause I'll put in my own system later anyway, but I don't think you can get it with the MT.
