Looking for future-proof small lift

So I'm pretty happy with my new truck (2010 DC SB 4x4 OR). I got it for hauling my dirt bike and it's doing a pretty good job so far. I plan to get the TSB leafpack next week, so that should make it even better.

I am a little hesitant that I won't like the resulting rake though, so I've been looking at solutions for lifting the front a bit. I don't want a front and rear lift yet since I prefer to keep the moto loading somewhat reasonable. I also don't want to completely eliminate the rake since I don't want a saggy rear end when loaded.

So I'm guessing that I'll be looking around the 1-1.5" front lift range as a starting point right? That said, if whatever I get has the capability to go higher, that would be nice if my interests change down the road. So from what I can tell, my options are:

$ - 1500's set at 0.85 or 1.75
$$ - 1500's set at 0.00 + Eibachs
$$$ - Toytec Coilovers (minimum 1") (still a 1500 shock)
$$$$ - Icon Coilovers

I'm not interested in spacer kits. And as much good stuff as I've read about them, OME seems out since it's around a 2.5" lift minimum.
Money isn't a deal breaker, but I don't want to waste it on something I don't need.
I like the idea of the Toytec and/or Icon's being infinitely adjustable within their lift range. (I assume you could tweak the individual fronts to account for lean, instead of having to use a spacer right?)
I'm pretty comfortable with the way the truck drives and handles bumps right now. A stiffer ride doesn't bother me, since it will be nowhere near as stiff as my Subaru, but I don't want to sacrifice off-road flexibly too much.

I guess some questions I have are:
- Are the Eibachs worth getting over the TRD OR springs that I have?
- Are the Toytec springs worth getting over the Eibachs (ride wise, not including the extra adjustability)?
- Has anyone compared the Toytec and Icon setups?
- Is there anything else I should be considering/researching?

If I had the $$$ adjustable coil overs would have been my first choice. I went with the Eibach/ 5100 setup at 0 and it worked out nicely. Any of the choices you have listed are good options.

 

i agree, definetly customize it its gotten me broke and in a HUGE amount of trouble with the gf but she tends to enjoy it every once in a while when i take her wheeling AND she still loves me <3

I am installing Eibachs with 5100s set at zero this weekend. 5100s front and rear. I wanted to reduce the rake as well and that is the option I chose.

Well three of those 4 options involve billy 5100's, so why not just get those first and see if you want more lift/springs later?

Installed my Eibach 1.6" coils with 5100s front (set at 0) and rear. It rides smoother than stock. They lifted the front right at 1.5". 34.5" prior and 36" after. The rear is almost exactly 37" (stock /no TSB). All measurements from the ground through the center of the hubs. I have already had my alignment and I am very happy. The lift was just what I was looking for.

+1 on the eibachs and billsteins for a mild lift. Took most the rake out of my truck and rides awesome!!

 

What's the different spring rates between stock coils and billies @ 1.75 vs Eibachs and billies set to 0? Do Eibachs require any kind of extra maintenance over stock coils?

 

Since TRD OR springs are progressive, I think it would be hard to determine the spring rate pre-loaded @ 1.75". Since they are progressive the rate increases during compression. I think the initial rate of TRD OR springs is 540# and the Eibach spring rate is 620#. I may be imagining things but the Eibachs with Billys set @ 0" ride smoother than the stock TRD OR set-up. It only lifted by front about 1.5" and left about a 1" rake, exactly what I wanted. The alignment is back in specs and the ride is smooth.

After I drove a few days the Eibach springs seemed to have settled. The lift at the 5100 stock settings, Eibachs only, was Left: 7/8" and Right: 1". I went ahead and increased the 5100s to .85. The total lift now is Left: 1 5/8" and Right 1 3/4". From what I have read in this post it appears the 4x4s need the .85 setting on the 5100s to achieve more than 1" of lift. The PreRunners appear to get more lift at the stock setting.

Suspension mods to date: Eibachs, 5100s on all four corners, NO 1/4 spacer, NO TSB.

Measurements before lift:
LF: 34 1/2"
RF: 34 3/4"
LR: 36 7/8"
RR: 37 1/4"

Measurements with 5100s at stock setting:
LF: 35 3/8" -> 7/8" of lift
RF: 35 3/4" -> 1" of lift
LR: 36 7/8"
RR: 37 1/4"

Measurements with 5100s at .85:
LF: 36 1/8" -> 7/8 + 3/4 = 1 5/8" of lift
RF: 36 1/2" -> 1 + 3/4 = 1 3/4" of lift
LR: 36 7/8"
RR: 37 1/4"

I ended up with 3/4" of forward rake both left and right. I will post pictures soon. I hope this helps some that are trying to decide on what settings to use for the 5100s. I will now need to get a new alignment but I will drive it for a while to make sure it has settled and that I am satisfied.

 

I can't tell a difference from the before and after, LOL.
I have the eibachs on my Double Cab and the front actually sits higher than the rear. I like it though. I have them on the TRD bilsteins and They definately ride firmer though than stock. I wonder how you say the 5100s ride smoother when they are actually dampened firmer than the OEM versions, Weird.

 

I went the cheap route and installed the Eibachs on my stock TRD billys and I got about 1.5" of lift and I am very happy with them. I have the tsb rear so I have a little bit of rake which is what I wanted and I just got my tires installed yesterday (265/75/16's Firestone Destination AT's) and I am pleased with the way it came out .
