Just get a triple case Marlin Crawler box so you're at 500:1 low range and you could climb that hill at idle speed

Think I'll get out and make a sandwich on the flat bed while the truck drives up this hill.

Agreed but I'd probably go out and test every customization of crawl control and terrain select if I had it then turn off all the grannies and do it all again. Hours of fun !!

Trans is a hybrid R- series 5.15:1 first gear, front reduction box 2.28:1. 4.7:1 in the rear case and 5.29:1 at the axle.

Damn thing is point and shoot doesn't even need a driver most of the time.

I was a skeptic on Crawl Control. I figured it was pretty much a gimmick. However, I've found that it's pretty useful for steep descents. The independent braking ability allows better control compared to me modulating the brakes (talking about hills too steep for Automatic in 1st gear Lo range to keep crawling speed). I feel it gives me better directional control going downhill. I've decided it's an asset and a useful tool to have available.

Is it necessary? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure I could get the truck down the hill one way or another, CC just makes it more controlled and comfortable and makes my passengers less nervous.

I have not found much use for CC going uphill. The few times I've tried it didn't seem like it was that helpful.

I had a legit use for MTS last week though, and that was pretty cool. I think the locker would have had the same end result, but it's another useful tool.

When ABS first came out I found myself pulling the fuse because when going over mounds, bumps or rail tracks, I would find myself without brakes when the wheels landed and had to wait for it (ABS) to release control upon sensing that the wheels weren’t spinning freely in the air anymore.
And that was the longest couple seconds I hated waiting on.
It wasn’t until VSC and A-TRAC came along that I felt it had come full circle and I got to appreciate its value.

Now we have CC, MTS, to add to the list and I’m gonna wait till the seasoned off-road pros give it the thumbs up.
I’m mainly concerned with brakes overheating and the system shutting down in the middle of a steep decent..

Hope we get some feed back from those guys.

    Cheers!

MTS is useful. I think I have used CC three times.

One time I wanted to test it down a hill but my wife screamed when it started banging so I turned it off.

One time my friends wanted to see it so I backed up and used it.

One time I used it going up a hill to test it. It was too jumpy at 1 and 2 mph so I set it to 3 and it was OK. Ehh

I have used MTS several times in rough shit and it helped a lot
