Sitting stock currently with rims, tires, and suspension waiting. I don't have the space, equipment, or time, to do it myself, so I'm looking for a place to do so. Reno is 3 hours from me and working for the Forest Service leaves my days off minimal in the summer.

Any recommended shops or folks to help out with an install, mount/balance/alignment?

    SCS wheels
    Cooper Tires
    Icon suspension

    Eventually front and rear bumpers.

If you don't mind the trip to Carson City instead of Reno, I'd strongly recommend Custom Truck Accessories. Andy has been my go-to guy there since I had my RAV4 before the Tacoma, and he's always treated me well and keep costs reasonable for me on installs. They did my suspension setup and tires on both vehicles, and now my rear bumper on the truck as well.

I believe they have a shop in Reno too, but I haven't been there so I can't speak as to the staff and quality of work there. But if it's on par with Carson City's shop, they should be great too.

Figured Mammoth when you said 3 hours away, I get customers at my job coming up from there and Bishop all the time.

I purchased through them as well. Overall their pricing is pretty good, and the one time I had found something cheaper (my old OME kit on my RAV4) they price matched it for me on parts. I'm thinking for a change I'll get my headlights bought elsewhere first and then having them install them though.

Don't know if I could run that yet, I need more real off road experience. One day though!

Man, I don't have an answer to either one of those. I will be going thru the Sweetwater range again at the end of this month, that's just past Desert Creek. I just down loaded this cool file that overlays roads on google earth. I saw a road that goes from Carson City and dumps out on highway 50 near Tahoe. I never knew that road existed. Do you know about that road Nevadawolfe?

If it's the one I'm thinking of then yeah, I know of it. Never drove the whole thing though, last time I was on it I had my RAV4. As for Bodie, it's an easy drive on the road near Bridgeport, but beyond that it gets rough between Bodie and Aurora. Awesome place to see though if you haven't been yet!

The Rubicon is perfect for gaining valuable off-road experience! haha. I've never done it, but I don't think it requires an insane rig and/or an expert driver.....though anyone who has done it could chime in...

Have you explored Dog valley? @nevadawolfe @xxmagpulxx
Rubicon is doable in a slightly altered rig. just takes more time. Id recommend 35's at least. Although, a long time ago we got my friends stock 80's isuzu truck thing through. It took a lot of winching though:D

I was up there last night, it's an "un-improved road" in other words gravel. Its a little bumpy but perfect for a stocker to go adventure around. It's super pretty and there's tons of stuff to explore, Crystal peak and Verdi peak to name a few.

Ah, I see. I have some friends that go camping out there, but we all have different days off so I would be going by myself. I need to find others that have the same days off as I do which is in the middle of the week. I'm still new to this truck stuff, but having this Tacoma is like having a whole new sense of freedom. My car is too low to get over most speed bumps but is fun as hell on a race track. I'm over that now. Now I wanna go down every freaking dirt road I see. lol.
