Another CVJ rep here. I also bought new axles from CVJ with the extended boots, almost a year ago after the stock ones blew. I just tore both of the extended boots last weekend though. But my angles are steep and I took my long bed up Naches Pass

 

were they the red/orange poly boots?

Well that sucks. I have heard that CVJ will warranty those boots. Might want to give them a call and see if they will do anything for you.

 

I've heard that too. Can't remember how long though... There is a "repeat customer" discount though if you order through them again

Do you remember how much it cost ya to sent out your CV to them? And also how much was it overall if you don't mind me asking? I'm kinda ballin' on a budget right lol.

 

Could be a possibility! Going to contact and few shops to see how much they're going to charge before attempting to do it myself.

 

You have to devise a way to remove the three wheel thing at the end that I think is called the tulip. You are supposed to use a big brass punch and a dead blow hammer, I ended up using a harbor freight chisel and a lot of swear words. A good chisel should have been harder steel than the axle and would have screwed up the axle parts, but good ol' HF steel is super soft crap. The chisel will flake off steel from the tip and dent itself in the process of you wailing on everything, while the axle remains OK. If you insist on the brass punch, pony up for some big bucks and do some searches online, because slim chances of you will find it local.

 

It's something like $250 an axle with $100 core return for the old ones. So ~$150 an axle.

 

I have tools and experience fixing stuff (none with Tacoma CV boots) I'll help you. Can't be too hard people change CV shafts in the field. I have a big brass punch also.
