Man all this gear ratio crap........... If you don't like the gears in your truck why not just re-gear!!!!! I will be re-gearing my 2016 SR 5 speed 4 cylinder eventually, It currently has 3.9's and I'm going to go to 4.56s from wheelers off-road with a Air Locker!

Man up and just re-gear and stop the complaining :crapstorm:

Hundreds of thousands aren't auto enthusiasts on a vehicle forum. Hell, I bet 3rd gen ownership that are active on this forum are around 500-1000.

Well that's just like saying a few people don't have issues, hundreds of thousands do. Unless I read data and just not your beliefs (or anyone else making similar statements that support or deny your assertion) then your statement is meaningless. If we had warranty claim/customer complaint data from Toyota (which I realize we will never get) then we could determine what the issues are.

From what I read so far (and while the level of the problem is unknown without the data) - I hear many of the same problems of the 2nd Gen (for example howling windshield, squeaking clutch pedal, rust on frames etc) are appearing on the 3rd gen. Again, to what % of ownership nobody but Toyota knows. Regardless, if these same issues are coming up then that's not a good sign in my book. Remember this is a truck that the chief engineer, Mike "Seatbelt" Sweers said everything has changed from the 2nd gen aside from the seat belt bracket.

Added to that, the fact that the 3rd Gen Tacoma has not even sold hundreds of thousands of units makes your claim dubious at best.

And why hasn't the media gotten hold of this Einstein info of all these problems you have gathered ? Because of a squeaky clutch or window seal ? Think big man. Also post above shows 112000 sold. Next.

I don't know if I should feel proud or stupid but I just went thru the hold 38 pages of this, just to find out the only difference between the first 2 years of the 3rd gen is the power rear window.

Fwiw, I added the front bed rail for a whopping $43 after tax and 15 minutes of my time. Only real complaint is the bolts they used to mount it are shit and I stripped out two of them with my electric drill on a mid power setting.

So what you are saying is the 16 genie pigs have the same truck (minus rear window) but for a lot cheaper? Looks like a win for us ;)
