Toyota has no obligation to change your gears for you. You purchased your truck knowingly with 3.90 gears. The gear update is not due to a failure, it is not a TSB they are simply making an update for a new model year based on research and internal decisions. As a matter of fact, I'm willing to bet that if people hadn't started talking about it 90% of the people in this thread wouldn't even know what ratio came in their truck to begin with nor would they care. This is exactly why alot of people don't buy first run trucks. Your lawyer isnt going to get them to do anything.

Yeah, I know Tacomas don't have a LSD but Toyota does (or did) have real LSDs, such as in Supras and things. That used to be a thing, putting the Supra diff in your mini truck. The Tacoma axle coding is a complete charlie foxtrot now but it used to be at one time that Toyota was organized and consistent across their production for stuff like this.

What I meant is this update you're referring to and that everyone was arguing about initially doesn't appear to even be happening. Did you read the whole thread?

From your post above, I think it's you that needs to think man.

You do realize I wrote nobody on either end can state that the 3rd gen are problem free or full of problems. We don't have the data that Toyota has.

Toyota should give everyone who bought a 2016 a free power rear window! I feel shafted!

This thread turned into a giant pile of hammered assholes. Nothing but arguing, bickering over stupid shit and calling each other cockbags. I like it! That's what gets me through the day!

Now I just want to know, did @smitty99 really abandon this thread?!

Correct. But like I said that's not hundreds of thousands like 2016Tacoman said.

It's cool man, because it's technically in the 'hundred thousand' range, he'll claim he's right. It's like arguing with liberals. It isn't arguing. It's yelling facts loudly while the other party plugs their ears and yells LA LA LA LA LA :argue:

In his defense, he's actually pretty cool. Hooked it up on a set of reservoir brackets and took care of me. Then again, I do enjoy stirring the pot.

I've got AT LEAST 6 more hours of work to avoid.

Yukon 4.56s will solve all your problems  And a true diff failure under normal circumstances within your factory or extended warranty will be replaced by the dealer so long as you are on stock size tires. Anything larger than stock they can claim that it caused the failure. Google the Magnuson Moss Act, learn it and know it well. It will save you at some point. I feel like you 3rd gen folk need to venture out of this little sub forum, these are all heavily discussed topics in previous model years.
