Well I didn't think of myself as an "Old Timer" but at 75.5 y/o, but it looks like the TW is mostly younger folks than I... Young friends helps keep you young! My 5 grand kids relate... they (15>26 yo) think it's a cool truck and certainly don't mind riding with me or driving it...they like the size.......as I do! Just right for me. Though the boys would prefer it on 31's and lifted.

This is my 3rd Toyota 4x4...; #1, 98 Four Runner, #2, 2008 Taco OR access V6A, #3, 2016 Taco SR5 Access V6 in MGM, with appearance upgrades and the black interior with red trim (I couldn't deal with another drab gray interior!) . It pretty much matches the TRD OR pkg except for no locking rear dif. With alloy wheels, body color over fenders and black matte grille with tasteful chrome surround, not a GMC like chrome cheese grater. And less $$.

I really like the Gen 3, summer road mileage averages 23 MPG , some times 25...with no load. Tailgate doesn't bend when I step on it. The restyle unit overall is an improvment over Gen 2. Things I didn't like...and removed (still do my own wrenching & service); front air dam, folding rear seat& backrest, neither item did much but take up space ! The only disappointment I can't fix.... 3.6 doesn't seemed to be well matched to rear end gearing under a load. Lacks low end torque towing a trailer with a load about 1/2+ the rated capacity..... I don't like having to drive at low turnpike speed(60 +/-)s, holding up traffic, continually in the 3500+ RPM range if there is any sort of grade. My 2008 4.0 pulled better , it worked some but seemed to carry a load better in top gear. But I don't tow all that often so overall I still feel it's a great truck...sporty yet utilitarian, I can haul my ATV or dirt bike and tow my snowmobiles and haul in cow s /compost for the garden9but not all at once!) . Only need to put up with one passenger..PLUS trade in value and dependability of the Tacoma is TOPS!!! Sounds like a winning combo to me.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
I'm (nearly) 59. And all I get are "appreciative nods". But then again, I think I look like a truck guy.

I'm 55, and loving my TRD Off Road.
I haven't noticed any real typical age of people in Tacoma's, I see all sorts of people and ages in them.

63 and be driving tacomas for years. Age has nothing to do with what truck you own.

Fortran? That's a newer language. Here is the first computer I ever worked with:

    The Univac CP-642B:
    Midway1_large_2c3d23b08dc98234ed7e4a3b32857c844aceff62.jpg

Ran on Octal Machine Code that could be input from punched paper tape, or via the lighted buttons at the top:

    Specs
    Size: 38" wide x 32" deep x 72" high
    Weight: 2,400 pounds
    Had a capacity of 64 words/minute
Storage: magnetic or thin film memory
    Total memory capacity of 30K

A couple years later, we got Mag Tape (on 10" reels)

    Gawd... I'm old!
