hello all, im going nuts trying to decide on 265/70 or 285/70. Below is a pic with a 2 inch spacer lift, 17x9 -6 with 265/65/17s. Stock UCA, DCSB PR V6.

Ill be installing 5100s @ 0 w/OME 885, 5100s w/ Deaver single AAL this week, from what little info provided, do you think ill clear 285/70/17s?

I have the same question I want to run 285s on stock 16s and was wondering if I could do it without wheel spacers since I have aftermarket uca's

I could be way wrong on this so bare with me, I was under the impression that 285s will need aftermarket wheels on the 16s due to the backspacing, or wheel spacers. There is a thread in the 3rd gen that is dedicated to lifted '16s with lots of good information. I'm curious as well and have been looking all over the place. I'd like to keep my stock sport wheels if possible and plan on lifting soon.

I was under the impression that if I had after market uca's I wouldn't have to run spacers but idk

I have Methods with 4.5 back spacing and i cleared just fine with 285-75-16

A buddy of mine is running stock 16" rims with the same tires but he had to get wheel spacers because the tires rubbed hard

    hope this semi helps

hm I was thinking the UCAs helped with the alignment but I'm not 100% sure on all of it. I'm sure someone else can chime in and set things straight though.

Yes They definitely helped with alignment but someone told me that since the new uca's have a different angle than a stock uca after the lift they would clear the 285s

I have BORA spacers for 100 shipped if you need them. I got different rims and don't need them now, but I am on a 2nd Gen. The UCAs for me sorted out factory specs on alignment but don't help in clearing the tires from the spindles.

So do you think u could run 285s on factory 17in 4runner wheels since They have a 4.5in back spacing without running spacers

OP, you'll probably be fine at ride height but as soon as you hit a bump, you'll rub on your cab mount. To not run, you have to do a cab mount chop (CMC)

You may rub a little at full droop, but this would be at a crawling pace and not damage the tire. The internet is your oyster and I have no hair trying to research all the combinations in preparation for mine. I honestly got everything I would need and then mocked it all up to see what I was willing to accept. I now have spacers for sell because of this, but it was more piece of mind for me.

    Too few to list.
Spacers will be needed on stock wheels to clear 885's. It might not look like it rubs but it will when turning and you'll develop a groove on your tires. I remember reading a thread in here somewhere with 885's and stock wheels.

Now rubbing on the cab mounts on the other hand is a different issue. 285's will clear height wise with 885's but you'll need aftermarket UCA's to prevent from rubbing. Even with 885's and aftermarket UCA's, you'll rub during flex and CMC is necessary. On road, no issues.

Yeah, I didn't even mention this point. I am not sure at 285 since I went from 265 to 315s and have been cutting and pounding ever since.

Also, the spacers won't alleviate the CMC or plastic trimming, they just help you clear coils and spindles.

Yes I know I not worried about doing a cmc in just really against running wheel spacers

Nothing wrong with Bolt On Wheel Spacers like the SpiderTrax 1.25" Hub-Centric.

Generally when going to a 285 sized tire on Factory Wheels a spacer is required for tire clearance. If you are running and aftermarket wheel it most likely has less back spacing and so will clear on its own.
