They still get my attention. They're new to our area in the last 5 years or so. Man made from the oil well waste water injection process.

Hey FiveOhs, got some news. My mother's CAT scan was negative for stroke damage, so I can relax a bit. Negative is good I guess (or it means no brain was found) Still a bunch of other issues, but we were really worried about another brain clot.

Truck is going in Monday, so I emailed a few vendors to see if there were bumpers available. Pelfreybilt can do a steel plate one for me by Friday, but it's in Cali and costs a bunch to ship. I dunno, big black bumper and silver truck. I'm never going offroad so maybe this is too much? You guys are my age, with similar ideas, what do you think? The original plan was to fix it with TRD PRO lights and grill, then rhinocoat the grill surround and lower bumper cover. It will still be plastic, but armor coated plastic. Still lightweight, but no paint chips and scratches.

    Here is the pelfreybilt

i would think you can probably get the pelfrybuilt for what it'll cost for factory parts to replace what's damaged. then you could have the bumper painted or owdercoated to match truck. but you should get what suits your needs. i'm tempted to go run innto a tree so i can get one.

It's close, but with shipping the pelfybuilt is more. The OEM bumper is mostly plastic, so about $600-800. Compare that to 950 plus 250 to ship. Labor is the same and I'm not sure if I need to get new bumper supports.
The wife looked over the pelfybuilt and gave it the thumbs down. Shows too much suspension for her tastes. I kinda agree.
But thanks for the advice Casper. I would not suggest the tree idea. Airbags would probably deploy.

yo can also have the bumper done in tintable bed liner. the bed liner is relatively colorless you just mix in a little base that matches your paint code and there you go the best of both worlds

yep i showed my wife a truck with an off road bumper and she thought it looked stupid also. "why would you want something that looks like that on your pretty truck?"

This made me wonder what would be better for resale? Probably TRD?

You read my mind. I was thinking a silver or grey metallic. The stock Tacoma has black plastic bumpers and grill, so there's nothing custom with that look.
I think you have the right idea, plus it would be easier than painting and clear coat.
