Good point, OEM always sells better. Plus I have the stock wheels, so the big bumper may look a bit silly

 

it's far more durable we use it in industrial applications

In my case, I get the inevitable "protect it from what?" question. We have a lot of deer in the neighborhood, so I guess that would be a reason.
But I'd rather bang up another plastic front end than kill Bambi with a steel bumper. Easier on the conscience.
My front end crumpled, but little of the impact was transferred to the radiator pillars. I think an off rod bumper would have caused more damage. I'm not sure, but I don't want to test that theory.

I'm not really a fan of the big beefy plate bumpers. PLUS THEY ARE HEAVY. You will need to beef up your suspension for this.

In all seriousness, if you don't offroad and don't like the look, don't get it. I replaced mine because I needed the approach angle for offroading. You can get a Pelfrybilt in aluminum without hoops and color match it, it would look good imo, but you have to drive the thing so get what you like.
There are 2 aluminum bars that the bumper mount on and they are designed to bend in a crash, check them out.

And if you hit Bambi or a vehicle at speed the front end will be totaled, with the steel, I had very little damage, the Volvo wasn't so lucky
