OK Well as you can see I'm new. I'm sure this must have been asked but for some reason I can't find it and want to know.
In Canada (Ontario) what years if ever did they offer the Tacoma with a Double Cab/Crew Cab along with Automatic with a shotbox/ 5' box.

If they did let me know what year so I can look for a used one

(It's also funny the when you look at the brochure they are always showing the Double Cab with shotbox yet it really only comes with manual)

... and don't forget towing. Auto for towing, less work, smoother ride.

The 2nd gen was never offered in Automatic in the DCSB in Canada. Any trucks that you see up here in that configuration are imports from the USA. However, for 2017, Toyota will start making this configuration for Canada in the 3rd gen.

I don't agree on that one either. I like towing with my manual, much better control over the engine that way. Backing up is a bit harder with a stick, I end up riding the clutch sometimes, but most of my towing is going forward anyways :)

Think boat launches and having to stop and go on steep hills.

... and heavy shite, real heavy shite:

... and your 'motor control' comment is moot. Maybe in the past, but today's autos are more than capable of offering 'motor control'...

... except some awesome burn outs! :burnrubber:

Goodness gracious!! That is heavy stuff, you really pull that with a Taco?
The 2016 has that hill assist, so starting uphill and pulling up from a boat lunch is no biggie with MT.

Oh, and by the way, everyone with 2016 complains about autos hunting for gears. Not so much after the software update, but still, MT eliminates that altogether. I control the truck, not just go for a ride.

Sure do, but I have a beefed up suspension. My trailers also have brakes on both axles.

No for 2017 I've heard the TRD OR will also be available in the DCSB config. Check out the 2016 Canadian Tacoma thread. That information is in there from about a month ago.

Yup. I was even nice enough to track down the dealer post that says it's coming in the TRD OR and Pro trims:
