every stock intake is? please tell me more as I have not known that. I guess I'll have to start telling people driving high end cars to switch their intake to k&n. After all, they are all made restrictive..... right?

The stock intake on these are about the most unrestricted I've seen on a factory vehicle. Not saying that a CAI isn't useful for something, but to me, the juice isn't worth the squeeze. Especially when it could cost you power and mpg.

I think just a k&n filter only would be a better investment if you want to have a filter you can use for a very long time.

I had bought a 2004 GTO shortly after they were introduced. THAT vehicle benefited from a sealed K&n intake. Along with headers, cat back, and tune; I gained 5 tenths in the quarter mile. That is a lot in a drag race. I cannot remember the hp gain, but it was decent.

For sure, more air in needs more air out so a tune would be needed to take advantage. The torque gains is what I would want.

I'm not sure it'd increase torque without a tune either. It might bring the torque to its sweet spot earlier though, or it might make it later because of the ecu not being able to compensate.
