Never thought of that, but I can see it happening. There are many other much better options.

    None...yet!
My Ram 2500 used to wander all over the road. I was pulled over 3 times in 4 months. Always at 11:30 at night. I would a.) turn on the inside lights, b.)roll the window down (tinted), c.) have the license and reg. on the dashboard, d.)hands at 2 and 10. I never handed over my CCP, but I assume that as soon as they ran the license and reg. that would come up anyway. Each time I explained that the truck had been into Dodge to correct the problem. One sheriff even started a conversation regarding steering stabilizers... he was cool. Never got a ticket or a caution, as was right because other than erratically trying to keep that whale between the lines I hadn't broken any laws.

And last week I heard that a guy got into a road rage spat on I-84 in Boise, followed the other guy off the freeway to have some words, and the two guys jumped out of a Camry with an AR and robbed the other guy of $40. I am still processing this one... But I can tell you I'm not stopping for nothing from now on... And have been actively thinking about how to concealed mount my own AR with Aimpoint.

That space there after your statement was for your opinion, so we can then shit on it. ;) But seriously, I'm in the market for holsters so I'd appreciate any informed recommendations you might have.

I haven't tried it with a lefty holster. This is the holster that I attach to my belly band and can be easily removed and stored away in this fashion while driving.

Personally for cc I like a good leather or leather hybrid. I never considered s truck holster bc I don't ever take it off and leave it in my truck. I don't ever get in my police car and take my holster off and that's much more uncomfortable.

I plan to invest in a good hybrid holster. I hear very good things about the IWB hybrids in terms of comfort level. But I also like to wear basketball shorts and other work out clothing that does not allow me to throw on a belt and in these scenarios, the belly band works great!

I do not think I would un-holster my firearm and attach it inside of the truck cab in all scenarios. If I have a passenger in the truck, my firearm will stay concealed on my body. But when I am driving alone and were to encounter a stressful scenario, I think the set up that I run in my vehicle would allow me to quickly reach for the firearm without much, if any, obstructions.

Hey if it works for you then go for it. I teach shooting and self defense classes, have experience in situations and work in the field. I'm just telling you what I know and have experienced. Operate how you train, don't deviate. But then again most people don't even train with the tools they will rely on to save their life or not be proficient enough to use safely

Thank you; I think that is one advice that I take very seriously. My wear my EDC conceal gear inside of my home and practice drawing and dry firing randomly with a safety checked weapon (always in a safe direction of course). My goal is to be able to move my body correctly and properly operate the tools without much thought. There aren't too many locates in the nation's capital with ranges that allow shooting from the holster, let alone while seated.

I may really take you up on that! I am relatively new to CCW and can always benefit from more professional training. I do not hunt, but it is also an activity that I would like to get involved in as it is a vital part of survival training.

I focus on teaching basics and muscle memory. Once those show to be understood and followed through I add what we call Jan the dog world as conflict training. I add timers, I teach shooting and moving, looking for cover and shooting, then add it all together and then add in casualty targets. It's layered training

I can do tactical stuff and basics with shotgun and ar type rifles. I have tons of experience with hunting rifles but nothing tactical for the hunting rifles aside from proper form and breathing techniques for proper shot placement and basic ballistic adjustments

For anyone trying to use a Serpa/Blackhawk style holster for concealment...yeah, I don't know what to tell you other than it's not even worth attempting. As far as the training thing goes, yeah that's kind of a mixed bag for me. I shoot IDPA monthly and usually try to get to the range to practice at least once a month in between. I've also done a couple tactical pistol courses and a rifle course that incorporate vehicles scenarios into the training. Honestly, as long as the gun is within reach (and not inside of a bag or a box or something) and I know where it is, I don't think I'll have too much trouble getting it in my hands in a hurry, and once it's in my hands we're all good. I really hate sitting on a gun or having one dig into my abdomen (depending on carry position) while driving, so I like the idea of a holster mounted in the car just for that.

I didn't end up using a Serpa for my mount though, I devised a funky velcro rig that I'll post pics of later. It's handy because it's removable and accepts all sizes of pistol, but the retention is also adequate and it's fast to draw. I pretty much just use it for storage while driving and camping, any time I leave my truck in town the gun goes back in the holster and comes with me.

Also I'm bummed I don't still go to school in central VA or I'd hit you up for some training time. I'm in CO now though, which ain't so bad at all.
