Toyota of Kirkland is stumped as to the light on my truck. They have sent out all info and data to the Toyota engineering department for help with solving this. Not having a truck is a HUGE pain in the ass for me

Benson X and I are doing a multi day trip Aug 26-29th and are seeing if anyone else might want to join. We are doing somewhat of a repeat of the lost corner trip from two years ago, so 2 legs of the WABDR then manastash ridge /Naches etc. Minimum truck build includes good offroad tires, sliders, skids, proper recovery points, cb radio (winch and rear locker are a bonus! :) ) We want to keep the truck count to 5.
PM me if you are interested!

Thanks for the tips. Are you talking about disassembling the outer CV joint? I think James' outer boot hasn't torn yet. I was planning on rebooting that joint but leaving it assembled as we clean the old grease out of it.

I'd love to go, especially since I missed out on the Lost Corner trip. Unfortunately, I don't know if I can get the time off from work and wife approval. Also, I wouldn't have a CB, lockers, winch, or sliders.

Are there any good (inexpensive) portable CB's that I don't have to install into the vehicle? That way I can take it with us whether out in the Taco or the T4R?

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Midland 75-822 40 channel. See "products discussed in this thread" at the bottom of the page. I would link you to the actual CB on Amazon, but my computer at work is being slow and not bringing up the CB

Thanks! I'll check it out at home (work comp restrictions and all)...
At least I can enjoy TW at work since it's a 'Toyota' site (I work for Toyota) :D.

I'lol second the Midland. A buddy has one and it seems to do just fine. You can also add external antennas to get better range on the handheld units which is a nice option for down the road

I didn't like how quiet it was. There is an external lapel mic/speaker that really makes it a ton better that I saw one guy have. It can almost get up to PA volume

That looks so good I think I'm going to order a safari snorkel.

    Workin' on it....
I was looking at those and the diameter of the Airflow is larger at the intake than the Safari. On the other hand the Safari can adjust the direction of the snorkel and seems a little more low profile.

Anyone looking for a 102" CB whip antenna? I dropped into the RadioShack in Bothell (Canyon Park) looking for an antenna mount which they did not have. The guy in the store said that they were not stocking much CB stuff anymore, but that he had some 102" stainless steel whip antennas in the back for about 16 bucks. I have almost no CB radio experience, but that sounded like a pretty good deal, so I grabbed one. He said he had 5 left, so I told him I would mention it to you guys.

The only benefit of a larger intake is if your truck has fuel tuning or forced induction. Cold air intakes have been sold as snake oil for as long as I can remember. Anyone from the ricer boys to truck guys been getting ripped off. More air does not mean more power without more fuel and more ignition timing. Please save your money people because your nit making more power.lol The idea of an snorkel is pretty cool. The price of an airflow is very good. It's almost half of safari one but no offense that snorkel looks like a hideous periscope or a retarded elephant trunk. The nozzle is huge and sticks up to high. The arb one is more low profile a sits lower to the cab line. But both are pretty cool and of course this is my opinion on which looks better. Anyone can run what they choose. If I was running a supercharger I'd get the airflow to feed the blower. Otherwise your just limiting the blower. I think it's going to be safari for me. Too bad it's $600 :(
