If you have some rope you can tie a noose around the cv at the diff side and use something heavy like a bfh or hi loft jack on the other end of the rope and yank it out. With skids on you are not able to use the pry bar method too well.

Are you guys drunk? He asked if he could remove the axle, not the whole CV. It takes a 20+ ton break press to break the clip inside the cv to remove the axle shaft on a 2nd gen taco.

Unless he just wants to replace the whole CV. In which case I would be confused by the original question. It's a piece of cake to remove the whole CV assembly.

So to clarify, I was asking if I can leave the extended axle in place and just remove the CV joint on the spindle side.

Not while on the vehicle, have to remove complete assembly and put it on the bench. I've seen a video of a guy using a vise and bfh.

Is that the tape measure that starts at 6" ?

Where did you find that by the way ...at the adult book store or the suspension shop ?

He measured my travel at about 25" up front, so at least I've got that going for me.

Honestly I glazed right over that part because I thought it was obvious the fact that one cannot remove just the axle from the CV while on the truck. So much for that. :)

Its fine, alot of people fail reading comprehension these days. It is to be expected I suppose.

...or occasionally someone on a forum asks a question so absurd that you can't possibly fathom that they meant they were going to try and service a CV while it was still on the truck so you reply in the frame of mind that they must have misspoke and you give them the logical answer....just sayin' :boink:

Actually, I think I'm one of the few people on here that is mature enough to admit when I don't know something and ask for help. I googled and watched some youtube videos that didnt describe a press to take them off, the search function didn't work for shit, so I figured I'd ask in here. I actually expected the sarcastic idiotic remarks from Jason this time and was surprised when he was the only one that actually read what I asked.

I know about zero about CV axles, haven't fucked with them at all for the most part. Thats next on my list to learn about, and apparently I'm missing some tools to work on them.

    Carry on kids

The part that threw me off was "I just bought a whole new axle". I misunderstood that as a whole assembly. Bad comprehension on my part, Then again I cant comprehend most of what is said in here.

Wow! I love how you claim "maturity" when just about every single time I make a comment in this thread you have a childish response that does nothing to help anyone or further discussion on a topic.

@jberry813 as usual you were spot on about this Internet tough guy.
