This is gold! I carry GPS with me, but it's always nice to have backups.

Also, while we're on the topic of traction boards, aside from MaxTrax, how do the other options out there stack up? Anyone have experience with any of these?

    Maxsa - https://www.amazon.com/Innovations-...qid=1470846380&sr=8-1&keywords=traction+board

    Smittybilt - https://www.amazon.com/Smittybilt-ELEMENT-RAMPS-2790-B2790/dp/B005QAMV1K/ref=pd_sbs_263_6?ie=UTF8&dpID=21WtMwjR66L&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=HAHY2KPP7ZQZAP6P8HM1

    Tred - https://www.amazon.com/HD-TREDs-Recovery-Extraction-OFF-ROAD/dp/B00XCMOFWM/ref=pd_sbs_263_5?ie=UTF8&dpID=41-yPym0BtL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR160%2C160_&psc=1&refRID=HAHY2KPP7ZQZAP6P8HM1

Another option I was considering was getting some FRP grating since it's crazy strong and can be used for bridging.

I'm trying to buy some soon. I just want two though.

Hey just saw you're in Littleton. I'm staying in Littleton right now. Thinking of moving here in a year or two.

I've used my maxsa trax a few times, the little nubs wore down a tini bit but that was some pretty intense tire spinning with gravel. id say they are well worth the money, but i wouldn't do much "bridging"

No. We flew here. Rented a lovely Nissan Altima lol.

We were here for the Eric Church concert in Red Rocks Ampitheater and to visit some friends.

Want to trek out here with the 4Runner though.

yup i am! how do you like it? also if you are serious on these boards call Ruben at Odin designs and ask if he has any more of the new tred pros, and see if he will cut you a deal on them, he got a bunch when this all happened. he is down in castle rock so it would not be far for you to go.

I love it here. So much better than CA in almost every way.

It is up to my girlfriend. She likes it here too, but she's going to go back to school in a year or so. The Denver area is awesome though.

I would love to grab some traction pads from him but we are flying out today and t would be rough to pack them haha

I'm only going to use mine for mud or any case where I'm stuck. No bridging at all

I have a set of Maxtrax, Treds, and Smittybilt. In a nutshell they compare like so:

Smittybilt - Best traction, ok ergonomics, poor quality in comparison with others but ok.
TRED - Poor to Ok Traction, Poor Ergonomics, High Quality Construction.
Maxtrax - Good Traction, Excellent Ergonomics, Excellent Construction.

The smittybilt are thinner and will crack and break under lots of weight. The TRED handles suck and because the boards are so deep they capture mud inside really bad. They also don't stack well. Maxtrax are the best hands down but also cost much more.

Have you tried the new tred pros? They look better to me than the originals.

I haven't, but from the looks of them the things I disliked about the treds are the same. They improved the traction which I though was OK aready. and Improved the materials which I also though was ok already. The handles though are the same and it looks like they are just as deep as the old ones which means the mud is going to get stuck in them just as much.

Dont get me wrong, when it comes to getting the truck unstuck I felt that the treds and maxtrax performed equally. As far a longevity goes they seem to be equal as well. When it comes to pulling them out of the mud, cleaning them off, and stacking them on a roof rack, the maxtrax are much easier.
