Is the Airflow inlet diameter 3.5"? The ARB Safari for 2nd gen taco's is a generous 3.75". Some people have done the ARB Safari made for the Hilux and you can get a fit kit to put it on a taco, not sure what the I.D. is on that one.

I read somewhere it's chocked down from 3.75 so your lowest point still limits it

Just looking at the Airflow install manual.

    This is good to know:

"Important note: Do not turn the Air Ram away from the direction of travel because it will lessen the positive pressure necessary for proper operation. In extreme situations, at speeds above 15mph (25k/h) a vacuum may be generated causing irreversible engine damage."

I remember a promo video from arb said the Safari can be turned temporary but that same venturi effect will rob you of air flow so do it in a pinch.

I wonder why would you have to rotate it? Snow maybe?

I'm not a fan of the Airflow air ram head either, no offense guys. But surely that could be changed out. Does the air ram head tilt forward much like / ? I'm just thinking about how it rains sideways here and driving highway speeds into the rain.

here is one of many examples of 3.5" I.D. air rams

BTW do you have a soft top canopy on your truck? I saw one like yours In downtown kirkland with a Cvt tent on the roof but with a soft topper. It was white like yours with a sea kyak or a canoe on the top

I've driven in plenty of snow. Can't say that I've ever had snow hit my window at such an acute angle. I'd think low angle torrential downpour Midwest style rain might do it though.

That makes sense. They are designed and utilized in Australia more than anywhere else. They get those crazy tropical storms down there.

Speaking of snorkels... I installed my arb last week. My friend bought the cheap helix one on Amazon for his fj for $130.

The amazon one feels like It has thinner material than the arb but overall it looks pretty badass. The only thing that sucks is the template that came with the kit did not Align with the snorkel so he had to drill like 13 different mounting holes on his fender to get it fitted properly lol.

So jealous... they are litterally a fraction of the cost for a 1st gen. Same with the arb bumpers... looks bad ass... still love the 1st gens better...

Here is a $370 mistake guys. If you are planning on going HC with a swingout and plan on adding a canopy get doors on the sides of the canopy instead of sliding windows. You will have to go thru a pain in the ass steps every time you will want to put something in your bed. I had the canopy before i went HC so i had no choice but to buy a replacment window.

I think this is the main reason im opting out of the swingout for my high clearance bumper. I would get so annoyed having to open the gate to open the canopy. Plus if i took the canopy off (which i do sometimes) i could never haul anything with the tailgate down, like furniture.

oh shit, reminds me I'm hauling a queen sized bed soon and didn't think about the swing out issue. I guess since my tent is not mounted to the bed rack right now I can strap it down on top.

Yeah @TacoSTIG brought that to my attention. You could probably haul it with your rack tho!

Yeah for sure. I think im going to make a plywood platform in the canopy that attaches to the rails to mount my spare and have room for 2 action packers underneath.
