When did your tierods need to be replaced, if they even have yet?

Just curious if any of you second gen owners have had tierod issues. I have searched and googled but most of the results I have found are from 1st gen owners only as well as the replacement videos.

I have a 2013 with almost 70k on the clock and a couple weeks ago I noticed a lot of slop in the steering as well as popping. Jacked up the front end to test the tie rods and it looks like both inners are pretty shot outers are ok but starting to get loose. Seems a little soon for them to wear out but I do drive a lot offroad and have had larger heavier tires on since early on.

Just curious what other 2nd gen owners have experienced.

Post up your year, mileage, current tierod condition, typical use and tire size.

I have a 2009 and just did inner and outer tie rods, and the steering rack at 161K miles (260K km) which was the first time I had issues with it.

I'm running 285/70/17's and put a lot of highway driving on my truck, and trail use.

I did innners and outers at 150,xxx. Not sure if the previous owner replaced them but I doubt it.

Off-road use greatly accelerates tie rod wear. Even if you are not steering, just the wheel moving up and down puts cycles on the joints. Gotta pay to play.

If it makes you feel any better, your truck probably has much steering slop now as a new Wrangler...

Haha true. I dont mind replacing wear and tear parts as needed. I already got the new tierods ready to go. Just curious if it was common for them to wear out this early.

My experience is with the Corolla...
Yes, tie rod bushings rattle like a mother at between 75,000 & 150,000 miles.
    Potholes are the devil!
One pothole will break a tie rod.
