Sure when I get home. They used similar language "recalibrate" per TSB 0077-16" or something like that.

Just got mine done in Temecula Valley Toyota......the service agent was completely unaware of the TBS and any other issues with the transmission...I informed him of the TBS number and requested that the tech do a "manual" check of the transmission....he told me they do the procedure that Toyota calls out....i reiterated my request for a "manual" check....

In at 0611 and out at 0835....Invoice states that "customer states transmission not shifting properly , and seems to be hunting for gears....Customer feels trans fluid maybe low...Check for ant TSB's"

Cause: " Transmission not shifting properly"

they did the TC1601 which is the TSB fix...."Technician reprogrammed ECM (PCM)

However, there is no mention of preforming ANY work on/for the issue of being low on transmission fluid......which was the original request....When I asked the SA, he said they did it and it was full..I asked how and he said per the Toyota procedures.....I asked to speak to the tech who did the job and he said I could not because he was busy.....he also said they re-set the AI learning....

    Also no sticker...

After a drive from Murrieta to Irvine and back (150 miles) here are my observations:

    1. the truck seems to be shifting a little better in low rpms.....still a little quick to shift up to 3rd.

    2. at freeway speed, 65-70mph with no cruise control, runs good.....A little touchy on the accelerator which causes a shift but I think that is more of a driver issue than the truck....I need time to adjust from Lexus GS350...

    3. at 65-70 with cruise, does not appear to be "hunting anymore" Will still downshift when going up a hill, but at top shifts back....sometime will down shift to 5th or straight to 4th, depending on incline....shifts back going over the crest....so i assume this is normal...my Lexus does the same on that stretch or road.....(261 tollroad)

    4. because the truck is new and only has 555 miles on it, i was getting ~19.4mpg on first load..Second up to 22.7mpg. It appears after the ECM re-flash, my mileage will be less....computer is showing 18.5mpg now....

Overall, I would like to wait and get some more miles on the truck before I can say it has been improved or not.....seems to be but the next 500 miles should tell.....also, I am hoping that mileage will improve over time.....

One last thing.....the idle before the fix was around 900-1100rpms which was fine......now it is around 500-600rpms. I was told this morning that with the learning of the AI, this should improve within a week or so..Time will tell.

    Anyone have any thoughts......

When I check the transmission fluid, do I need to pin the thermostat or not?

The difference is cruise control behavior is massive after the TSB. I think you did not get the update. Glad my dealer is thorough with sticker, etc..

I post many times about how horrible the cruise control behavior was and how the eagerness for the truck to drop into 4th gear was annoying me. Those were my only real complaints. Those issues are gone.

"Customer feels trans fluid may be low." And that's it? There is no indication that the tech performed a manual check of the transmission fluid.

This is one of the many reasons why I'm on the fence about buying a 2017 Tacoma. Too many problems and too many Toyota service departments dragging their heels on service.
Is the solution to call corporate to have them talk to the dealer? Is that what it's come down to?

I didn't get the sticker, but I sat there and talked with the tech for most of twenty minutes while he had the "laptop" hooked up and a charger on the battery so the volts didn't drop during the reflash, so I know it was done.

I got the TSB done on Monday, and the difference is day and night. No more lunging going from park into reverse, and park into drive. It shifts properly when going down the road now. The difference is amazing!

Is the tsb #00-77, or TC 1601?

Went to Toyota Escondido told them I need ed the update they we more than happy to apply the tsb. Mozie the service representative was awesome. They have 2 service departments one for cars and one totally separate for trucks only. Now my shifts are smoother and acceleration feels better with ect off

So I think I got the tsb done today. The paperwork only states "Hard Shift / Calibration Reflashed ECM". Then I noticed this new sticker inside driver's door, lower b-pillar:

    IMG_1757.jpg

Is that it? I SWEAR that wasn't there before I dropped it off. Showed this to the SA and he had no clue but thought it could be due to the re-flash. Would that really reduce load capacity by 6 lbs? Strange.

Took a road trip from Washington state to visit in laws in Minnesota and the truck was constantly gear hunting the whole 1800 miles and I took the car to Burnsville Toyota for 10k mile service and they reflash the ecm and the truck don't feel as sluggish and I'll be heading back to Washington state next week and see how it'll do on the road.20160810_205147.jpg

I had that same sticker when I bought my truck. It's more like 33 lbs or something reduced. Never figured it out.

Had this update improved the throttle response for anyone? I thought I read of a few people pages ago. It did not seem to effect mine at all. Just wondering if the slow response is what I'm going to have to live with outside of ECT mode.

Anything added at the factory on top of the base truck will reduce the available payload by that weight. I read somewhere that the 6lbs is the weight of the tow package. Likewise if you had 30 pounds or whatever of predator steps installed by Toyota, this sticker will indicate that weight. If you add them yourself later, you are still reducing the available payload, you just won't have the sticker.

I got a call from the selling dealer this afternoon....(Toyota San Diego)..The assistant service manager and the shop foreman....I explained my issues and the horror story with Temecula and gave them the information from this site with pictures of the manual filling of the tranny....They could not believe I had that info....however, they invited me down next Wednesday, 17 Aug 16 between 7-8am. The shop foreman himself will be doing the "manual" check and has invited me to watch....Cant beat that...They even offered me a car or someone to take me to breakfast and /or lunch if needed......

They were more than willing to help me and impressed by my knowledge of the subject....little did they I know I gained everything from this forum.....

either way....full or needing fluid, I think we will both learn something.....And I will be satisfied: either full or needing fluid......but my concern will remedied one way or the other...Will keep y'all informed .
