Have you lifted the tire and grabbed at 9 and 3 and push/pulled opposite of each hand. (idk if that makes sense)

Hadn't done it off the ground until tonight, but did that, as well as 12 and 6 and nothing on either.

Yeah, guess I should've. Instead of sleeping in a little, I get to head down there to have them figure out what john boy did to it. I'll have to find a level area to check fluid levels prior to going in.

So I am not sure if Stevenson works the same as Groove, but you need to get the card of thr Service Writer that has Jace on his team. That would be a sure fire way to get Jace. You call just that service writer and not the main number. But even at Groove if you are in for just a tire rotation and oil change they typically don't go to the Master Tech's to do that.

BTW Jace is out on his honeymoon right now so request Keith or Evan there.

    It worked.

My only regret is not making the handle longer. With the preload tension, the handle will snap back with gusto and I'm pretty sure it will draw blood someday. It made a dent in the bedliner... And as the handle is not removeable, I may just have to add some material to it to make it a little safer. I bet it will sting like a bitch on cold fingers in the winter if it ever gets me.

Or i have an old shock that you can have and rig it up as a shock absorber so it cant just punch down.

So I could add like 3"+ to the end, it would give more leverage for opening and closing and maybe keep fingers out of the way, especially if I added a tactile section as a warning.

Or I could cut it and weld it back at 90 degrees so that it folds over the main bar when latched. But this will kill the leverage. It's fairly stout now to lock down, it ain't going anywhere.

Another thought is that with the weight of the tire and the rest of the build, it may be enough to take some of the preload off and it could be a non issue. I won't do anything until the tire is on it.

Plan B, version 2.0 will be implemented. After looking at it and removing the main bar, then remounting it with the locking handle hanging down, the tension goes away about 1/2" below the tube it's hitting now.
So my plans are to cut the handle short and weld a section back in place that will be parallel with the main bar when it's locked. The cantilever effect should be okay for operation. This will open up several options...

I can then drill the handle on the end and weld a loop to the main bar that a padlock or bolt or what ever can be inserted into so the handle can not release on it's own.

With the handle able to drop below the tubing, it will act as it's own safety catch if it should ever come open on it's own.

In the end, I don't want anything that may remove a finger. I would be extremely pissed off if that handle were to smack either hand during hunting season.

much improvement. I gave it 7/8" gap so as not to pinch my fingers on the flip side and still be able to get a gloved hand under it. I don't have to pre-wince before opening it now

It's what poor saps pay because they feel the need to buy locally. Find an out of state dealer that'll sell for a good price. Then after the price is agreed upon buy a cheap airline ticket and do a fly and drive it home. I've saved a ton of money doing this for motos, I'm not sure why more people don't do it for trucks too.
