My ebay projector headlights....

Well i came to the conclusion that the spacing inside the headlight/projector unit doesn't reflect light properly from an H1 hid bulb. An H1 hid bulb is much longer than a reg halogen H1. This causes the bad light refraction " hot spot " from a hid. I didn't try the unit with a reg halogen but i'm guessing with a reg halogen it gives off a perfect beam. Anyway on hids in reg halogen housings that don't have projectors the bulbs have aluminum shields either painted on with ceramic paint or have aluminum shields. I went this route. It was a pain to figure it out but it wouldn't take a person more than 1hr from start to finish.

 

What do you mean by diluted? So the cut off was clean and there was no hot spot but it just wasn't as bright?

 

Yep. The more I got rid of the hotspot the more the light in general weakened.

 

so generally your painting a shield on the bulb??? is that correct, sry your thread got me so intrigued because i was planning on buying these headlights, but now i am having second thoughts. do you think the spot would dispear if i just got the bi-xenon bulb.

Hey Razor are you going to keep your OEM lenses or sell them off? Always looking for another set. Have you done the BHLM to your originals?

 

Yep. I think if you got a non-hid bulb the hotspot wouldnt be an issue. Although I never tested it. I'm keeping my 0em's for now as I want to run these headlights for a solid year to make sure they're working fine. So far so good.

 

Razor, how's the fit and finish on those projector headlights? Any fogging or water getting in? I actually really like the way these ones look (compared to the ones that have the LED eyebrow). I wonder if anyone has run these with regular halogen bulbs...

The fit and finish is oem like. Very solid lense also. There is a clear plug on the back that i pulled and on occasion after a car wash or high humidity weather it'll fog a little but never to the point where it collects water and after a few minutes of driving it clears up. Nothing more so than any oem headlight would fog up

 

hey man could you send me some pics of how you spaced it out? cause i just bought these lights n i hate the puff above the cutoff, n i didn't want to paint my bulbs cause i don't have the best hand for that kind of painting

 

So I was considering these headlights plus the other eagle eye projector ones (the ones that have 3 rings in towards the middle) I really wanted to put sleepy eyelids on this exact pair but without photoshop or pics anywhere else of someone doing it I had only my imagination to use.

OH one more thing, could you take a pic of both headlights from the front so i can get a feel for the look of the sleepy's on both these headlights? I dig the side angle tho
