Edmonton? Planning a parade?? This is news to me.
They have a shit-ton of work to do, before they can claim anything. Play meaningful games in Jan/Feb.....and then they can say something.

 

Yeah, I'm not sure where @TheRenegade is going with that last comment. There hasn't been any parade planning in Edmonton or TO for a while. That "planning the parade," comment seems to be the first thing coming from non-fans when anything goes right for a team that's not theirs.

 

You should see some their fans. The moment McJesus was drafted you would have thought all of their problems were solved and they were winning the cup the next year.

Same thing can be said with TO. Every year is 'their year' and with the Matthews drafting they think their team is the best ever and will be unbeatable.

I would know, I lived near both of these places and personally know tons of these team's fans. Most of them all say the same thing, except a few more realistic ones that do seem to be the quieter ones. I respect those people.

 

Well you heard it here first. I'm a Leafs fan and Matthews will not be the best player ever. Neither have I ever heard anyone in the media nor a fan say that. The Leafs, at best, might threaten a playoff spot but everything will have to come up spades for that to happen. Otherwise TO will be a bottom 8 team for next year with better prospects on a post season birth the year after than they have right now.

I'm an Oilers fan, through and through. McDavid was an amazing (and lucky) addition. But it meant almost nothing to the chances that the team would dramatically improve. I knew that right away. And so did many others. I know plenty of Oilers fans - and even more hockey fans. Very few of these people were under any illusion that the Oilers were "out of the woods".
Maybe fair-weather fan. Or very uninformed ones.

 

But seriously , Canucks are winning the Stanley Cup this year , you heard it here first
