Yea I have read that too. I definitely won't go with a handle replacement, but am considering the electric version that essentially just blocks the rotation mech thus "locking" the tailgate.

wondering if unistrut would work as a replacement rail system? cut mine to fit my old rack, now have to flip them back and they are a little short.

Or get one of the new Tepui Baja series mesh tents with the interchangeable canopies. ;)

The shorter rails should still work fine.

Maybe in the future when I need a bigger tent. I'll look into it, really smart idea.

How many people can it hold?

Right now it is the Kukenam size. Its looking like all Tepui models will eventually use the same "zipper gimp" design and allow for all canopies to be interchangeable. You could also retrofit existing tents to use the new canopy design by just adding a zip off version to your current base. It won't make your current canopy a zip off one, but you wouldn't have to buy an entirely new tent, if that makes sense.

Theoretically, at some point you will be able to essentially build a custom tent, with whatever type base you want (standard/ruggedized) with whatever canopy you choose. Tepui has a patent pending on the design of the interchangeable canopies. It's definitely a cool feature and it was good to see it up close last week at the OR show.

I set my tent up so that I can just stand up without hitting my head on the floor.

That's what I did. Had some shipping issues, so they gave me another $75 in gift cards to compensate for it. Came out to under $1400 shipped to store after taxes when it was all said and done for a Tepui Kukenam Ruggedized.

They had the XL as well, but didn't want it hanging off the DCSB when mounted. Call them and you can see if they can order the other models.

I have an apt with no garage (hopefully change that next year) and I'm worried about storing an RTT. I found one that's around 115lbs which wouldn't be so bad. Did anyone else have this problem? What was your solution?

I'd just keep it mounted except when you absolutely can't.

Ground floor apt? Get a little furniture dolly to move it around and roll it inside when you can't have it mounted.

Or find a friend with a garage?

Hopefully you'll give it a try! In the past year we have made some major modifications to improve durability and overall quality of the manual handles. Our 2016 power lock is now the number one seller and very few complaints out of thousands of units sold since its release!
