Degrease and remove all residue from the aluminum .Dont use any steel bristle brushes or iron oxide sandpapers. Clean with an aluminum cleaner /conversion coating (Sherwin Williams W4K263 or equivalent). Do not omit this step even if your using a self etching primer. Apply an epoxy zinc chromate primer (Sherwin Williams GBP 9870/981)to the bare aluminum per mfg instructions. Apply primer surfacer after proper flash time. Then apply several coats of Berliner coating. Not undercoating

Hey all! I may be selling my truck and I'm still waiting for my bumper. If there is someone that would like my spot on their GB please send me a PM! Hoping to get someone in my spot instead of paying the 15% drop out fee.

    Thanks much!

But you are saying it's not whats recommended.. only reason I'm asking is that is what I was plan to use on my front bumper but if it won't protect as well I won't. Be doing it

Jeff. The guy asked what the best process was for painting aluminium. So I got the info off a painting thread. I am no professional painter. I've seen people straight rattle can bumpers and never had peeling or anything. I recommend people painting them to the best of your abilities

I got a good deal on a Smittybilt XRC Comp (9.5) at auto anything. Its shows to be $449 but I called them and got some type of discount to under $400 (can't remember the exact price). Its really light weight with the synthetic rope and seems to be a decent middle of the road winch. I am no expert on winches but did some research and felt this one fit into size, weight and budget for me. (They can def get expensive, like Warn Winches).
There's plenty of reviews on the TW and the internet of pretty much every winch out there.

Still high. I hope you can find a better deal. Have you tried a powder coating place?
