What you need to know about lifting a 2016 Tacoma - Presented by Toytec Lifts

They were the OEM Coils off of the Toytec 3rd gen SEMA Tacoma. It is a 4dr Sport model. They had it tested for spring rate and it came back at 712lbs. I haven't seen the other models coils side by side. I will have to ask if there are different part numbers for the springs. That's usually a sure sign that they are different. Interesting that Toyota would go that far to put different coils on for ride. They didn't do that on the 2nd gen .

So I pulled the trigger on a lift. I went Bilsteins, TR UCA, 887's and a Headstrong leaf pack. I had someone quote me almost $700 to install so I think I am going to give it a shot. I'm pretty mechanically inclined. And have a buddy that has lifted his GX. But, does anyone know of a good video to watch to get a gist of what to do? I watched this one but it is for a 2nd gen. I can't imagine it would be much different.

Has anyone had issues with a cyclical hum/grinding coming from the front differential drivers side needle bearing? I know this was a pretty well know issue on the gen.2 especially in trucks with lift. The reason I'm asking is because my truck developed this issue after I had my lift installed. I had the front differential replaced under warranty by the dealer. Now less then 200 miles later it's developing again. Currently set up with bilstein 5100s in all 4 corners, front set at top setting using OEM off-road springs, SPC uppers, 1.5" AAL in the rear. I also had a diff drop installed. I'll be the first to admit I'm fairly new to lifting trucks, but does anything here stand out as a cause for the problem?

I shopped around and found the best prices on Amazon, no tax, free shipping; there are other vendors around here that will match or beat prices too. My driving situation doesn't require the extended travel or need for remote reservoirs included in the stage 4 kit. Also, stage 4 comes with the AAL that just gives height to the crappy stock leafs(I'll sell cheap to anyone) which is no good if you use your truck to haul or tow, you know, truck things.

As far as UCAs go, the SPC was about half the price of the Icon and offers greater adjust-ability; I don't regret it. No rubbing, even with the increased offset and stock mudguards. You can do the math/research and come to your own conclusions in terms of where you want to spend your money.

Here are some pics since the last time I posted. I added a Leer 100 XR shell, Thule Rack and of course, the Dakar leafs to bring up and maintain rear height.

Those are 20x9 with a -1 offset. Im running a 275/65r20 and it rubs the body mount a little on hard turns. I plan on doing the body mount trim and should be good. If you want no rub I would go down a size.

I got it at germain Naples from Alex Schwartz last month.
so far I've just got the tranny fluid added(low 1.5q)some other small stuff and hid kit along with the led fogs kit from TRS.

probably gonna go boss 2" lift with add a leaf, uca's, spacers and some 265/75/16's
would really like to fit 285/75/16 if it will work.

Did you get any overspray in the engine compartment, by painting it on the truck.?

 

He most likely removed the grille before dipping.

Sup gents. Just installed my 2016 Tacoma OME kit including the FK29 drop kit. Noticed a rumble strip affect at 20 MPH during deceleration only. Any thoughts? Is there a need to use axle shims on this kit?
