I am the proud owner of a 2016 Tacoma double cab 4x4 TRD Sport (inferno) checked my MPG on two seperate trips one was 550km and the other 450 km , i measured my MPG in imperial gallons (Canadian) at an average HWY speed of 105 kmh i got 30.55 mpg on the first trip and 30.3 mpg on the second trip , i only have 1800 km on the vehicle total , i am super impressed with this pickup , I had a 2013 Tacoma , same specs and the best MPG i got with it was 23.5 MPG , simply amazed . All of my MPG calculations were done by hand with a calculator not by the trip computer . astonishing at how they are able to make such a huge improvement . We also have a 2014 Rav4 and it gets about the same MPG as this truck lol

average it out over a month. you'll be at about 17mpg (US) or 13.5L/100kms on regular 87 grade mixed driving.

I have to throw it out, no big deal since the truck has a rating of 19/24...that said my average in city/highway daily driving. hills and mountain roads, curves I am at 20.6MPG average. I expect that to totally take a dive when the 285's get mounted up, to 17/18ish. Thats reg grade 87 with seasonal ethanol. FWIW.

    Congrats!
And yes this is a very nice truck, 9k here no Issues complaints or peeves what so ever, great gas mileage. I can get 23mpg if I keep it under 70 on mainly flat ground.
But realistically, I travel at 76-80mph and don't baby it much for a grand total of around anywhere around 21-22mpg on any given trip.
However, I do keep up with the air pressure (40psi) on my "17 BFGoodrich rugged terrain T/A, and I do use regular top tier gas. I probably could eek out an extra mile or two if I had regular tires?? IDK, but happy.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

I have been impressed with the mileage so far as well in the month I have had my DCLB. Serious stop and go city mileage has net me 18.1 MPG. The Nissan Xterra I traded in to help get my Tacoma got 11.8 MPG On the last tank of gas I ran in it. So as you can see on my end I am seeing a huge improvement.

I've got 1,300 miles on mine and I'm better than that, currently.

30 mpg? No way. Like the other poster said, downhill both ways maybe. I've got 6k miles now and the most I ever got for an extended period was 23.7 in an absolutely PERFECT MPG scenario. Maybe people have gotten a tiny bit more, but nowhere near 30.

I redid your math and got 25.45 miles per gallon. Still seems too high but is not 30 mpg.
    553 KM = 343.6 miles
    51 liters = 13.5 gallons

those are the numbers and they don't lie , i check my mpg on every fillup and its been mid 20s to 30 mpg , like i said i had the old 2013 tacoma with the 4.0 L and it was a pig on gas , i had a 5.7L tundra that got pretty close to what my old 4.0 L tacoma got , its simply amazing the travelling is in the prairie provinces of canada with very few hills and elevation above sea level at between 1400 and 1800 ft

I agree we should not be too uptight/obsessive about mpg for a pickup. I never really worried about it before, and have owned several trucks.

    However;

I think the reason I (and probably others) spend so much time watching the mpg and comparing it to others, is Toyota may have given us too many screens on mpg -- by the tank, trip, trip2, previous trip and instantaneous mpg readings.

To state the obvious - I guess it it good to save gas and be efficient, but I know when I am in the desert with 18psi in my tires in 4wd low, mpg is the least of my worries.

Maybe I need a gauge on number of feet of wheel slip while off roading, to help preserve that environment. :)

7 or 8 mpg makes a pretty big difference in $$$$ spent if you put on 2500 to 3000/ month :)
