I called All Pro and got an explanation for the lost ride height with the recall springs. The recall springs are stiffer so the AAL can't push them up as high as the old ones. Makes sense but it's a bummer. For those of us only looking for 1-1.5" of lift I'm not sure of a good option?

Update, dropped my truck at the dealer yesterday morning. Got a call in the afternoon telling me my All Pro AAL's aren't compatible with the recall leaf springs. Dealer told me the recall springs were made by Icon and they just happen to have an Icon AAL in stock and can install it for $588 plus tax. Yeah, right, Icon made the recall leaf springs? I called Icon and they confirmed they definitely did not make Toyota's recall springs. I then called All Pro who told me their AAL's are compatible with the recall springs. Apparently the recall springs are the same as what comes stock on the newer Tacoma's and neither All Pro or Icon had to redesign their AAL's to accommodate Toyota's new springs. So now I'm waiting on the dealer to install the recall springs without my AAL's and will have them installed by my mechanic.

In addition to the lie about the AAL's they gave me a laundry list of things wrong with my truck adding up to $6477.86. Out of the 13 items they said needed fixing 11 of them were completely not true and the 2 legitimate items I was already aware of. They actually told me all my fluids were either extremely low or contaminated and needed to be flushed or replaced and that I needed new spark plugs which I replaced about a month ago. I also check fluids regularly and have no leaks and I'm not low anywhere, unbelievable but not my first experience with a dealer pulling the same thing...

I've had similar experiences with a dealer in California and all 3 dealers here in Vegas have given me the run around, so lame.

Ughhhhhhh, keep checking and no recall for mine. My springs are completely inverted and ride like shit. Put 200 lbs in bed while moving houses few weeks ago and rode on bumpstops, wtffff

an AC is rated for 1200 lbs total payload including any aftermarket accessories, the driver+passengers, and cargo. if you had much more than 1/2 ton in your bed you were over the truck's rated GVWR

Gotta love some dealers eh? Mine told me my drive belt needed replaced when I only had about 37K on the truck. I laughed at the dude.

I just added a leaf on my leaf springs, and now I gotta take it off for them to be able to put the recall leaf springs on which is annoying and I don't understand why they just don't do it.

yeah, I wanna install airbags so I can load level when I'm heavily loaded and/or towing, but I don't want to do it til the local dealer gets in the springs and does my recall.

Cuz dealerships are lazy. They tried to tell me that taking my AAL from my old pack and put it in the new one wouldn't work. But really they meant "it won't work unless you pay on top of the recall to transfer it." Getting my new old man emu leaf pack tomorrow then tossing these recall springs in the garbage

Exactly, my dealer first agreed to reinstall my AAL when they did the recall then told me my AAL's aren't compatible with the recall springs. So now I'm driving around without the AAL until next week when I can pay someone else to install them. That said my truck feels like crap and the recall springs look flatter than the old ones did. I'm not even sure the AAL's will have my truck looking or driving the same. How much lift do the OME leaf packs give you?

You can buy whatever size lift you want for the rear. I believe the ome starts with 5 leaf packs and goes up to 10 or 12 leafs
Check headstrong offroad or wheelers offroad

I'll look into that, thanks! When I looked into replacing the whole leaf pack vs. AAL I only saw 3" lift options, I only want 1.5", 2" at the most. Should've done more research, now I had the recall done I doubt I can get reimbursed for buying new springs...

Yea maybe 3" is the lowest that he whole leaf pack go. I'm really not sure because I didn't look into replacing the whole leaf pack

I found this: More than I was looking to spend & now that I had the recall done I don't think Toyota will reimburse if I buy those. I've been a Toyota guy since my first used Corolla at 16, after how they handled this recall I'm really not sure my next truck will be a Toyota. Not to mention the pathetic mpg, when I can get a full size with a V8 with more than double the power and the same if not better mpg I would say Toyota is doing something wrong...

Here's my experience...... Called dealership on 7/22 and talked to service writer about the recall. He told me that my VIN was eligible and they would order the springs/install kit, and we made the appointment for 8/6. Arrived at dealership @ 8am on 8/6 and they had all the paperwork ready to go. By 9:30 the truck was done. I didn't notice that the truck sat any higher or lower..... but it did ride better. Installed HS Offroad Bilstein/3 leaf AAL yesterday and it ride awesome. The truck sits 2.5" higher on each end and looks great. I had no problems with the recall and wanted to get it done before I installed the HS kit.
