What the f**k is a Canadian gallon? Is that a gallon that's half Molsen? Maybe some Labetts eh? ;-)

Just kidding. Can't say I've ever heard MPG measured in Canadian gallons though.

Well if you are Canadian and still hang onto part of the old Imperial system (UK British)that we used to run on before Metric its easier to wrap your head around MPG than Liters /100km for some of us older guys . Same can be said for using inches instead of centimeters :)

I am traveling from West to East across the country next spring , a trip of about 6000 km with speed limits from 90 kmh to 110kmh , I will post all of my fuel ups with speed data from fuelly . i made the same trip with my old Tacoma in late winter and got 19 to 20 mpg on the 110 kmh legs and 23 to 24 mpg on the 90 km leg which is a huge 1700 km stretch in Northern Ontario. it will be interesting to see. The only thing i dislike about the new Tacoma is the 6 speed auto , it hunts for the correct gear too often , they should have stuck with the 5 speed auto imho . We had a 2007 Fj Cruiser bought in 2006 that we kept for 8 years (Traded for a new Rav4 in 2014) and it had the same issue hunting for the correct gear , but its problem was weight and the aerodynamics of a hay bail lol

I live in the Texas hill country so it's for sure not the best for MPG and I have been getting an honest 22 MPG combined if I keep a light foot.

Yeah that would be close to my MPG once you take into account Imperial gallon ,my flat terrain and i drive with fuel economy in mind after living through expensive gasoline a few years back and some thirsty vehicles :)

Ffs, glad I'm not shotgun. At those speeds travel trailers will pass between Calgary and Kenora.

btw, nice drive. I did it years ago with my 3rd ex.

I've never seen more than ~19MPG from my DCLB. And that was while making every effort to drive like a grandma. I've since given up on fuel economy, drive the way I want, and don't track how much gas it uses.

Yeah i have done the drive about a dozen or more times over the past 22 years , it used to be crazy people blowing by you on a 110 stretch at about 150 km/h but it seems like more people stick close to the speed limit now , usually 5 to 10 km over . i just did the east to west drive in June , it took me 70 hours to do 6000 km , pretty chill , no hotels just drive 18 or 20 hours at a time and sleep for 4 to 5 hours in the backseat :) it is a nice drive , love northern ontario and quebec in summer

OK try this 361.64 miles on 55.013. According to FUELLY that is 30miles per IMP Gallon. I think you are converting litres into US Gallons not Imperial gallons. 51 litres equals 11.9 IMP Gallons.

Exactly! I could give a rats ass about the environment. With a few Billion Chinese on the other side of the Pacific breathing out CO2 what affect my Tacoma has on the environment is pretty GD small. Gas isn't 35 cents per gallon up here anymore so on a long trip it pays to take your time and save some. Too, if I drove as fast as some claim they do I would be adding $300 per ticket to the coffers of the local RCMP for the first two trips then walking. It does add up and you don't save much time running around town playing jump start rush and wait but do spend extra on the gas budget.

    Take Care
