From what research I've done, there was a very short window of time (early 2000's) where Toyota offered roof-rails (?) as a factory option for the first gens, but they didn't sell well and they were soon discontinued. As far as I know, with first gens the only way to mount a roof rack is to do it permanently. Unless you score one of those rare models with the rails already factory mounted to the roof for attaching a rack.

Don't think so. I think racks increase value though. Worst case, you can bondo to patch the holes.

Use a step bit to drill!!!

Will do, thanks for the tip! Yeah I can't see why it would hurt the value unless a buyer specifically didn't like the look of a rack. But I plan on keeping this truck until the wheels fall off...and then I'll just put on new wheels :D

+1 for Billy at Bruteforce. Great work. He custom did Spencers roof rack to his specifications/kid like sketch and made it a reality. If I hadn't gone with Prinsu I would have gone Bruteforce.

@icetreye has a rack similar that goes around and over his soft topper. And it's one sturdy sob :D

Yeah I've seen those. I didn't want so much weight on my bedsides though.

Good call. Thkse plastic bed caps are crap as well. Toyota failed in the one. Kbvoodoo makes a good replacement for those but are pricey and the shipping to Cali really kills the deal. I like the idea of running a rack into the bolts inside the bed like the bamf rack. Although that really wouldn't work for a softopper or custom Bimini canvas to pair with it

Check out @fishfinder's rack. He has a leitner aluminum bed rack. It's one of my favorites and it's super customizable. He will be in pismo next weekend with you guys if you are going. He is going to get a canvas thrown on it soon I think.

Ok guys there are no camp sites left.
The only camping left is in the dunes or on the beach next to the dunes- normally this is the most crowded area.
Not sure how this is going to pan out. It's going to be crowded. And idk if the 2wd guys can go in the Dunish area to make it....

Right pedal to the floor and they will make it as long as a 4x4 is with them to keep them safe.
