First off, thanks for reading. I've been posting in various threads about my two scenarios and I thought i'd consolidate it and ask here. I originally had about a $600 budget and in my garage sits brand new assembled OME 885/5100s I got from Headstrong. I have a prerunner so it looks like that lift will give me near 3". The more I read, the more I understand I most likely need to get new UCAs since I'm going that high. That'll run me another $500. Not to mention some people are having the dreaded OME "clunk" with this setup. At this point, I'm realizing I could have just went with Bilstein 6112 for a much better ride and 5160s in the back. I'm fine with a 2inch lift so with the second or 3rd notching I probably will NOT need new UCAs. This will cost me around $1100. Same has the OME/5100+UCA setup. My new budget seems to be around $1100 if I want to do this right.

I'm leaning towards the 6112s. What are your thoughts on my dilemma?

Lastly, the rear. I have an AAL already. I have those rear 5100s from Headstrong ready to go. Are the 5160s really a huge improvement over the 5100s? I don't offroad much, but I would like to start going out around once a month when we go camping or hiking. Mostly just easy fire trails and some rocks. It's a prerunner after all. Do any of you run 6112s with 5100s in the rear?

My gut says go with 6112s up front for sure. Done. My wallet is saying keep the 5100s for the rear. The 5160s are overkill.

    Again... thanks for reading.

I say install what you have. The 885/5100 is the fix for the "clunk" sound. The "clunk" sound comes when you have the 885/ome nitro chargers. From what I have read, and with my "clunking" 885/ nitto chargers. Also I would install them and see if you need the UCAs or not. I got 3" up front with my lift on a prerunner, it aligned just fine on the stock UCAs.

Now for the rear, keep the 5100s as well. I have the Dakar leaf pack which added a full 3" in the rear and even my nitro chargers handle it fine. Which are a tad shorter than the 5100s

I'm sure @Crom can chime in on this, I think he swapped the nitro chargers for 5100s to get rid of the clunk.

X2 just install what your have 885/5100 is a good combo, IMO. It's what I've been running for a while now. When the 5100 are burned up, then go to 6112.

Can't help you in the rear. I have Dakar and ext B110 rear shocks. Very good combo IMO.

    Good luck!

I have 6112 up front. I never had 5100 myself but i have ridden on them and the 6112 is smoother at all times. I really like the 6112

Great choice! I have the 885/5100 combo and love it. I didn't need new UCAs either. The shop had no problem getting it into spec. I think you and your wallet will be happy! Then if you really need to, you can pick up some UCAs with the money you saved by keeping 5100s.

This is what I am looking at running at the rear or my truck.....any issues with the extra travel and the shocks bottoming out? I'm going to be running Wheelers SuperBumps and am wondering if I need spacers. Thanks.

I'm going to be running the 6112's up front and am trying to decided between the 5100 (B110) or the 5160. I like the 5610's but the 5100's have a covered rod which will help keep them from weathering in the crappy Canadian winters.

Devil is in the details, you'll have to measure to know for sure. I'm not running spacers and have calculated my margin of safety to just shy of 1/2". I have detailed how to measure the margin of safety in my build thread

Very true.....I'll probably run 3/8 spacer to make sure. Cheers.

Truck looks great. I am running the 6112's in the front and 5100's in the rear. Handling is much better over the stock 4600's I think but I was a little unimpressed with how much lift it gave the front. The shop installed them on the 4th notch and there are 5 so i know it can go a little higher but your's looks like it sits a lot higher. Do the spindles make a huge difference? I have never messed with those before. Your truck looks like the front sits way higher than mine with the same shocks.

Those spindles are only for 2wd, and they provide 4" of lift. That's why his looks so much higher I'm betting.

Yes the spindles add 4 inches of lift. My truck is a prerunner and i had gotten a lot of lift from the 6112 like nearly 2.5 on the middle setting before spindles. Now with them they are on the lowest setting

    A prerunner is a 2wd that sits as high as a 4wd.
