Oh haha no. I don't golf very well unfortunately. Gotta get better at it in my line of work...

I'm going for the car show/races. My girlfriends family has a car that is featured in the show every now and then so they go every year. It isn't in the show this year though.

Some talk in wheelers about dune camping and no spots left. As a Pismo vet I would like TO STRONGLY advice against this.

First off, there are no spots period. It's a beach, get in an area and stake it off and it's yours (counting on our AM group to secure that).

Second, camping in the dunes is dangerous and stupid. People drunk drive and ride all night and having a camp set up 3 dunes back and out of the speed limit zone is just asking for an accident.

Third.....10 times harder to get to, especially at night and especially for us 2wd guys (even more so for anyone towing a trailer).

    Just voicing some opinions here.

Since I should be arriving on Friday around 2 PM +/- at Oceano Dunes I'll try to secure a good camping spot for the group. Anyone else that will be arriving early let me know so we can join forces. I'll have a ham radio and will use the designated channel as indicated in the OP. (HAM FREQ. Weatherman 151.625)

I was planning on arriving at 2 on fri. I can probably get there by 11/12 if needed. Going to be hell trying to mark off space for 19 rigs plus tents though. I'm gonna need support.

Agee that securing a large spot will not be easy without reinforcements. I probably won't arrive too much before 2:00. Whoever arrives early, let's all get together and "circle the wagons" to mark our territory.

So what's the deal on beer and other substances down there? I saw somoene post before no glass. But I'm a bit of a beer snob and drink almost only craft brews out of bottles. Can we have the glass bottles and just pour them in to cups? And as far as other substances go, is there any "rules" on that with how many people we'll have in the group?

    Substances eh? :goingcrazy: lol

Just good ol' booze for me. I think some folks will have their kiddos coming along so the :rasta: should probably be in a truck or tent, plus I don't know what the ranger/patrol situation is like out there :notsure:

We should just section off the end where the wind blows for all of the :rasta: activities haha. I wish I had a paddle tire for my dirtbike so I could just go for a bit of a ride down the beach and post up in an empty spot. Oh well, walking never hurts anyone :turtleride:

Zero tolerance on glass, HOWEVER, if there was a cooler in the bed with glass bottles and you were responsibly transferring over to another cup, I wouldn't call them on you. Pretty much no glass bottles laying out and around, and don't give them a reason to come into camp and they'll leave you alone.

Substance wise....I mean.....I'm no saint...can't say I will have anything can't say I wont....can't say I'll be at the back of my truck at sunset with my lady getting at that Devils lettuce....

Its the same logic rules....be smart and responsiblend and the rangers will mind they're own business

Always responsible with glass and on the ocean. I'd never trash the beach nor leave glass. Thanks for the advice

I've never been up there before. I'm quite tempted to bring my bike.... but it may not even run lol it's been a few years

    Just my opinion...

I read, a post I believe, that said the entire group would be fined if glass was found. So.. that being said, I would expect those with glass to cover the fines of everyone who wasn't partaking, if that situation were to occur. If that's not cool with you, then know that getting a fine for someone else's decision is not cool with me. If the innocent don't get fined, then I could care less what any of you fine gents decide to drink out of.:hattip:

I want to spend my monies on mods, not fines.

yep that was me and our group a few years back. they didnt cover our fines (young kids and bad decisions) but we all learned a lesson for sure. i would only expect people to keep it away. if you cant go a weekend without youre specific mexican lager or craft beer or it just tastes better in the bottle....maybe just dont take the chance lol. all our booze will be plastic and aluminum.
