Hey all, my throwout bearing got toasted at 30k miles likely because of my supercharger. I've had the dreaded chirping sound for the last few thousand miles and it's been getting a lot worse (sounds like a million crickets chirping like crazy and goes away completely when I touch the clutch pedal).

Rather than replacing it with the OEM Toyota clutch assembly and risk having this happen all over again, I splurged on the URD Stage 2 Competition clutch assembly (might as well replace everything since it all has to come out anyway to get to the TOB).

Is anyone else here running a URD clutch on their 1st gen? Curious to know how it feels compared to the OEM setup, also URD says a 500 mile "break in" period is recommended, 300 miles is "required". What's a break in period for a clutch imply? No crazy shifting/redlining in the first few hundred miles?

Also, if anyone could let me know what the general labor cost was for installation of their URD clutch that'd be helpful, I'm getting a variety of quotes that seem to be a little higher than average because it's a 'performance clutch'. Definitely not taking it to Toyota, they wanted almost a grand just for the labor  Best quote I've gotten so far is $600 for install.

    Thanks in advance

Install shouldn't be any higher for a "performance clutch" so don't tell them anything other than you're bringing in your own clutch.

$600 for labor sounds about right.

Yeah after talking to Toyota I realized that mentioning 'performance clutch' probably didn't do me any favors.

The place that quoted me $600 has great reviews so I think I'll book it there. Thanks!

Oh and I have another sort of relevant question...

I just bought some Redline MT90 trans fluid to put in this weekend, but if I'm getting my clutch replaced next week will they be draining it? I'm no mechanic but I don't see why you'd have to drain the trans to replace the clutch, but I just want to be sure that I don't put this pricey new fluid in if they're just going to drain it out a few days later...
